I am a clinical social worker, licensed in Connecticut and New York State. I have been helping individuals, couples and families grow and change over my entire 40 year career. Change can be frightening to contemplate, but in reality change is normal. People grow and change on a daily basis as we learn, adapt and grow wiser and gain more experience. Often, being human, we make mistakes or we find that our lives are not what we expected. This can result in depression and/or anxiety, or a disruption in our relationships with families and loved ones. It may even result in serious mental illness. As an experienced therapist, I help my patients become in charge of that change process, rather than victims of it. I can't solve your problems, but I can assist you to solve them yourself.
- Relationship issues
- Family conflicts
- Trauma and abuse
- Parenting issues
I also have experience in Stress, Anxiety, Addictions, LGBT, Grief, Intimacy-related issues, Sleeping disorders, Anger management, Self esteem, Career difficulties, Bipolar disorder, Depression

Stephen has been a pleasure to work with. He is calm, reassuring and full of humour and I have greatly enjoyed our sessions and made fast progress with the issues we discussed.
Steve gave me advice that were very profound yet simple and easy to understand. It was a new perspective and I had to take time to change my habits. I would highly recommend him.
Best therapist around. He took the time and effort to listen to me in every call and provided great and sound advice without even the slightest hint of judgment. He helped me get through one of the hardest moments in my life and I couldn’t be more grateful for Steve.
Stephen is a very understanding person. He's done his honest best, in my view, to make sure that I am as comfortable as possible with him. What I appreciate most is that Stephen seems to have a good sense of where and when to pull back, so to speak. He never pushes, always moves at a pace that I am comfortable with no matter what the topic. I know I am all over the place but Stephen, bless his soul, somehow manages to keep up. Wonderful counselor, wonderful person.
I found Stephen Witte to be a very emphatic, professional and kind therapist. He genuinely cares about his patients and will always try to find time and the right words for them, even if they need help outside of usual hours or in a different time zone. He is not only a great listener but also the one to have a thoughtful discussion with, and provide actionable advice and tangible ways of situation solving. Highly recommend.
Stephen has made such a drastic improvement to my life. He is always a source of light, insight, and encouragement. I’m so grateful we were matched I don’t think I could have found a better person who understands and appreciates me as much!
Steve is an excellent therapist. He is extremely supportive and wise.
Steve is very kind. He uses great examples that help me understand what I am going through. I am confident he can help me figure myself out.
Professional, polite and understanding. Even with the obstacle of time differences, he makes it work. There's normally a wall and skepticism when signing up for these things, I've only had one session so far but so far I've been converted.
Can’t say enough about Stephen, I wish I would have found him long before. Has helped me tremendously over the past few months, and am looking forward to working with him in the future.
I enjoyed my first session with Stephen. It was my first time talking to any counselor, period, and I felt at ease talking with him. He offered some sound, straightforward, and practical advice that was relevant to my concerns. On top of that, it proved a pleasant conversation about all manner of thing, including mental wellbeing, daily living, and interpersonal relationships! I would certainly recommend Stephen to any person seeking a thoughtful, patient counselor to talk with.
I was going through a crisis in my life and Stephen was instrumental in helping me overcome this difficult period and be able to succeed. He is very supportive, open and encouraging as a counselor - Stephen knew when to share insights and when to listen at the appropriate times. He really helped me reach new breakthroughs and believe in myself again. Would highly recommend him for anyone looking for a counselor.
Steven Witte has been compassionate and very helpful to me thus far. I strongly recommend him and his services as a counselor. He is also a very good listener and has been helping me greatly.
Clear, concise, insightful.
I’ve tried counseling before and been dissatisfied. If you want someone to just listen to your problems without insight, critique or suggestions you can get that for free anywhere.
Stephen is a pleasant person to talk to. He is also experienced & his advice is practical.
I strongly recommend Stephen Witte for counseling and therapy. As a single working mother it can get very stressful and overwhelming and Stephen has helped me understand that it’s ok to feel this way, and how to feel better. Being raised with dysfunctional parents and not wanting to make the same mistake they made I had many questions in regards to raising my son and certain concerns about my sons behavior but he has offered healthy options that make me feel not alone. Definitely worth the try !as a busy single parent that has no time to go to see a therapist, talking on the phone with Steve has definitely made my world a better one. Thank you so much
Mr. Witte not only listens, but offers meaningful and insightful solutions. He has helped me so much in these past few weeks.
I connected with Steve right away. I appreciate his direct responses after listening to me speak while still acting as a mirror to what I'm going through. He has given me sound advice and is able to see through veils of my psyche that I'm unable to see. I'm excited and grateful to continue to work with him.
