About me
Hello. My name Susan V Filosa (MA, LPC, ATR) and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Art Therapist. My therapeutic approach is inspired by the natural world and a belief in the healing power of innate wisdom and creativity. Over the last decade, I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families in a variety of professional settings ranging from a Federal Veterans Affairs Hospital to a state psychiatric residential hospital where I facilitated acute inpatient group care for adolescents and adults. I have experience in helping clients with stress, anxiety, trauma, abuse, grief, and losses of all kinds, including divorce. My approach integrates techniques from professional counseling, art therapy, and evidence-based methods tailored to each individual's unique challenges, interests, and goals. Each personalized session is designed to effectively address the client's specific needs, ensuring relevant and impactful guidance. Counseling sessions emphasize resilience training and equip clients with practical tools and strategies to manage stress and gain mental clarity, allowing them to align more fully with their core values and aspirations. In a confidential, judgment-free space, clients are encouraged to explore both personal and professional challenges with honesty and confidence. Holistic practices, including creative exercises and mindfulness techniques, support lasting growth and empower individuals to cultivate a more fulfilling, balanced life. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. Susan is incredible, there is no other way to put it! I’ve been working with Susan for 5 months and she has given me a new lease on life in so many ways. She is supportive, knowledgeable and kind. I always feel like I can reach her if I need her. I truly believe she hears me, believes me, is invested in me and is giving me the keys to navigate and overcome PTSD/Anxiety.

Susan is an outstanding therapist who truly understands and matches my energy. She listens deeply and makes me feel heard every session. When I’m struggling to understand a situation, she offers thoughtful insight that helps me see things more clearly and with a new perspective.
She’s also very easy to talk to—our conversations feel natural and supportive. At the same time, she’s not afraid to be straightforward when it’s needed, which I really appreciate. Her balance of warmth, honesty, and clarity has been instrumental in my personal growth.
