My name is Susan Hargett, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and nationally certified. I empathize with how uncomfortable it is to reach out for help, yet you dared to take the first step toward living the life you desire.
Our unique set of experiences colors the lens of our perception. Therefore the approach taken to achieve your goals should be tailored to reflect who you are. My clients have a voice. You choose which areas in your life to address and the goals to accomplish. You are not alone, as I am with you every step of your journey. Together we will develop reasonable and attainable goals and discover routes to achieve them that supports growth.
Yoga, meditation, and mindfulness are my roots. These practices are more than a part of my daily life, they support my awareness and the ability to remain present and focused. The modalities I most often use are person-centered, solution-focused, ecotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and the skills from dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). I believe establishing and maintaining a strong therapeutic relationship through unconditional positive regard, therapeutic connection, and trust are the most important parts of therapy.
Our sessions are not all "doom and gloom" or working through difficult, uncomfortable emotions. Every achievement is big and ought to be celebrated.
I have experience working with the following: depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders. I am continuously striving to expand my skill set by becoming familiar with the most up-to-date, evidence-based practices.
If you feel I would be a good fit for you, let's talk and get started on your journey to wholeness. I look forward to meeting and working with you!

I love her I was greatly imposed within 30day of working with her
Susan is the best.
Susan is always timely in her responses and goes out of her way to provide me with valuable resources. Her compassion and expertise are greatly appreciated!
Susan gets me. She is very knowledgeable and kind. I am grateful that I have found her. I can be myself and the gargoyles can come too.
I've seen a couple of counselors over the years, but none can compare to Susan. From the very beginning, she helped me identify and set goals for myself, giving me a clear cut path to work through my issues. Her approach fits my needs perfectly and challenges me with new goals every week. This is so much more than just emptying your thoughts out, it's taking back control and becoming healthier mentally. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
Susan is a great listener, asks the perfect follow up questions and follows up on issues from week to week. I feel heard and seen!
I have had a couple of other therapist (2 others) over the past 5 years and Susan is the best I’ve had so far. She is a great listener, non judge mental and is there to help you in whatever you need...she’s amazing!!
Susan is a fantastic counselor. I feel heard, and her responding questions push me to think through the actual action plan, rather than making wishful statements into a vacuum. I highly recommend her!
Susan Hargett's expertise, familiarity, personality, and humor make her, possibly, the best therapist out there, and most certainly, one of the best people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Working with Susan has been very helpful and empowering! I love it!
Empathetic, caring, and validating.
Extremely calm presence while being knowledgeable. I cherish my chats with her and appreciate the tactical tools she provides on top of being a listening ear.
Susan always provides me with the help and support I need when I need it! She has given me tools to see things from a different perspective and get me through my hard times! I'm so appreciative for her and for Better Help!
I have really enjoyed working with Susan, and it has been such a wonderful process to work through in my own home!
Very good listener. Easy to talk to. Encouraging.
I've been counseling with Susan for a few months now, and all I can say is, "amazing". She checks in if she hasn't heard from me a while (in between appts), follows up if I sent a distress message but didn't respond back to her, and best of all, really listens. I've been in counseling off & on for about 6 years (about 6 counselors averaged out) and she is right at the top. She has a lot of compassion, and asks questions both to understand and to help me think through my issues.
Susan has been so helpful and very timely.
Amazing! Listens and gives me things to think about in a way I may not think of, like she makes me think outside the box a lot. I LOVE that about Ms. Susan! She's great!
I have enjoyed my time with Susan. She sets a very relaxed and open conversation setting. She is great with keeping in touch. I appreciate the assignments she gives, which help the conversation be that more interactive. I enjoy her daily quotes. Thanks Susan!
I have been speaking with Susan for a few months now. She is a very attentive listener as well gives sound, reasonable advice. I highly recommend.
Very professional, responds in a timely manner, and super friendly! Highly recommended.
I have seen counselors in the past, but none as wonderfully competent as Susan. She was able to very quickly see the heart of my problem and immediately start sending me resources. Each resource has been spot on, full of helpful information I was immediately able to implement in my life. While the circumstances of my life are still very much the same, my ability to live my life is already so much better than it was when I first contacted her. I am still very early in the process, I believe, but I appreciate the tools she's already given me.
I have also very much appreciated her complete lack of judgmental attitude, which is helping me heal my own judgmental attitudes. Funny how that works. She's very easy to talk to via video chat, and it's clear how much she is invested in me as a client vs her own ego or need to be right. (And yet, she has been right and right on time with each new tool she gives me.) I'm very thankful that I was paired with her from the start.
Working with Susan has been incredibly helpful to me. What I appreciate the most about her approach is that it is multi-modal - she offers multiple options for sessions (messaging, live chat, phone, etc.), as well as multiple options/viewpoints in working through things. When I was stuck in a panicky, obsessive thought spiral and reached out, Susan responded with a concrete activity that I could do to better understand what was going on and help get in front of it. I feel like my outlook, relationships, and quality of life have all improved from my time working with Susan, and I appreciate the balance she has helped me find.
So far, I strongly enjoy my counseling sessions with Susan!! She has really been helpful and a very enjoyable person to talk to!! THANK YOU, SUSAN!!
Susan is very easy to talk to and does everything in her power to make sure you feel heard and understood, which I think is an important trait. She’s very quick to respond and I feel as though she truly cares about her patients a lot.
Susan is an extremely kind and caring person. Her approach to sessions is very calming and non-judgmental. She has been extremely helpful so far in recommending ideas and resources for reframing my thoughts and building better, healthier habits.
Susan has been wonderful! I wasn’t sure what to expect when starting BetterHelp, but she’s made me feel completely comfortable since day one. Super helpful and a fantastic listener!
5 stars, very satisfied.
