As we transition through life and experience what this world has to offer, we start to realize that there is both good and bad, happiness and sadness, anxiety and joy.
Moments in our lives may require insights from others and help may be necessary. That is my goal here...to help in the best way I can. Throughout my professional counseling career, I have had the unique experiences of work with individuals of diverse backgrounds and difficulties. I have worked with and provided counseling to individuals who have experienced domestic violence, rape, and other forms of trauma. My experiences include work with adults and children. I have also worked as a counselor for homeless families and children. My work has taken me to an understanding of the human experience that is accepting and knowledgeable. My approach to counseling is typically centered on an existential and humanistic approach which encourages my clients to work toward their purpose. I also use the tenets associated with cognitive behavior therapy. I believe that each person with whom I work is working toward their own profound and essential purpose in this life and I want to help them realize their potential and strengths. I employ a compassionate and empathetic approach because I understand that the relationships between counselor and client is essential to the success of my clients. I want to understand the problem from the perspective of the client and in doing so, I can help each client a unique way.

Really appreciate my counseling communication with Dr. Harrell. The consistent dialogue is giving me a much needed concerns release outlet.
Thank you as always!
Dr. Harrell is just the type of help I need during the most difficult time in my life. She’s patient, she listens, she’s nonjudgmental, she never jumps to conclusions, she stretches me with the assignments she gives me, and she’s also very concerned for my well-being, which is expressed by her reaching out to me with encouraging support from time to time. I’m grateful for her expertise and will continue to rely on her support until I feel confident I’m able to manage through my challenges with confidence.
I am finding Dr. Harrell's counseling really helpful. She listens to my concerns and always replies with relevant advice and is able to identify the issues even when I feel my explanation are confusing or complicated. She is understanding, kind and never judgmental nor patronizing. I am very glad to have been matched up with her.
Dr. Tanya has been a huge help. She comes out as a warm, kind and an understanding person. Her approach to reach her clients with patience and prompt response is one of the key ingredients that makes her one of the best counsellor. She puts extra efforts into understanding her clients background, empathise with them and come up with the right questions to help her clients understand themselves better. I’m truly impressed by the hard work she did to help me. She took sessions at 5 AM in the morning as per my convenience without any complaints which shows how passionate she is when it comes to helping people. I highly recommend her to the people who’re dealing with issues related to self-image, bad relationships and emotional issues. Thank you Dr. Tanya. You helped me through my dark times.
Supportive, insightful, and a really good person. My best critique is that I've already recommended her to a friend.
Dr Harrell is a compassionate, patient, very wise therapist who has helped me immensely in finding my way back from trauma to tenacity! Back to the authentic me, whom I temporarily lost in a quagmire of hurt and depression. Once I saw the pathetic truth of who my attackers truly are, I chose not to be their victim and rise with the power Dr Harrell reminded me that I already possess. Thank you, Dr Tanya Harrell, for your kindness toward and confidence in me. You are very special in this world and "make a difference" in the lives of those you touch. God bless you and I pray much continued success in all of your future professional endeavors and personal pursuits. May you always be happy, happy! You're a gem.
Dr. Harrell is awesome. She guides and encourages me into thinking and expressing myself - something I have problems with. Additionally, she is understanding and nonjudgmental which allows me to express myself without any reservations. 10/10 would recommend Dr. Harrell
She helps me walk through what's on my mind. Which makes me realize what I'm really feeling. She listens and responds quickly. When I dont respond she checks on me.
Dr. Harrell is a great counsellor, she has helped me focus on a number of areas, with different methods of dealing with a number of frustrations, anger issues and self worth. I have chatted with Dr Harrell on a wide range of topics in my life and she has always provided a good ear, support and offering workable, valid solutions and suggestions for helping me get back on track. Highly recommend, thanks Dr Harrell!
Dr. Harrell has been a huge force for improvement in my life already. She is an amazing listener, and always offers wonderful insight into what I am experiencing. Would recommend her in a heartbeat.
Dr. Harrell has a very gentle approach to counseling and has given me space and time to gently work things through without being overwhelmed.
Dr. Harrell was there for me and helped me get to the issues of my problems and triggers. I am a much better person and feel like a new person. I am pursuing a dream that I never thought would be possible to achieve. Me and my wife are again on speaking terms with a small glimmer of hope. I honestly wouldn't be where I am now without her support.
In the short time that I've been under Dr. Harrell, I can say that she is very easy to talk to. I've already come away with a few wise words that I can tell myself whenever I need to.
In the very short time that I have been using BetterHelp, there has been a small but noticeable improvement in my quality of life. I am being gently nudged to think in ways that I would not have otherwise thought (vague, I know... but I'd rather not get too personal here)! Years of "self-help Googling" just wasn't doing the trick. This is something I can work with.
Dr. Harrell is genuine and helped guide me towards finding the answers within myself. She has a very positive and encouraging tone that makes me feel okay about what I am going through.
Dr.Tanya is a gift sent to help humans on earth!
Dr. Harrell is truly a gift. She listens to what I say, and takes time to thoughtfully respond. She makes me feel heard and is helping me learn to love myself. I got overwhelmed during one of our chats and didn’t respond for a weekend. On Monday afternoon, she messaged me and asked how my weekend was and how I was doing. Not once did she ask why I never responded to her last message. She understood. I truly believe she cares about me, and that makes it so easy to talk to her. I can not explain my gratitude for Dr. Harrell.
I have only been speaking to Dr Harrell for a couple of weeks. She's changed my life in this short time. She's opened my mind to myself and up until this point I didn't realize how disregarding I was to myself. She's helped me to disassociate myself from my problems and is teaching me to tend to the little joys that I am now finding. I look forward to hearing from her and find it easy to discuss anything within the safety of my home. And I think that security also helps me to be honest. I'm so terribly grateful for her help and wish I had done this yrs ago.
Dr. Harrell has a caring nature, and is very professional. So far meetings with her have helped me immensely, as I feel she is definitely focused on how to help me, rather than seeing me as 'just another patient'. Although we only meet officially once a week, she keeps in contact with me throughout the week with worksheets and homework to keep me reminded of the contents of our last session. She replies my messages, and I feel I can reach out to her any time, not just during our scheduled sessions.
Dr. Harrell is an amazing counselor, very compassionate and empathetic, and I really appreciate her pieces of advice as well as her guidance. I would recommend her to anyone who’s going through a tough time in their lives.
Dr. Harrell's a lovely person. She's very supportive, and listens to my concerns. She's also easy to talk to, often checks up on me, and follows up on my progress. I'm grateful to her.
Dr. Harrell is a compassionate counselor that understands my main concerns and actively assists me in working through them. She is reliable, and always responds in a timely manner with thoughtful responses to my questions, concerns, and requests for advice. She has been the catalyst to finding the source of my disordered eating and champions me every day in getting better. Can’t recommend Dr. Harrell and BetterHelp enough!
