My name is Tara Lineberry and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Virginia. I earned by Master's of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California. The majority of my experience as a therapist has been surrounding topics of mental health disorders, addiction, domestic violence, sexual assault, sexual harassment, trauma, eating disorders, and self esteem. Throughout my career as a therapist I have learned the importance of establishing a positive therapeutic relationship and how vital it is to have trust in the person you are sharing your most private thoughts and concerns with. I understand that many times all a person needs to get through a difficult situation is a non-biased, non-judgmental sounding board where they can share all of the thoughts and feelings they are experiencing and work through all of these things in a safe space. I am a firm believer that most people already know what they need to do in order to help themselves, but need a therapist to sit with them in a safe space and allow the process of thoughts and feelings. I am also a strong believer in the power of identifying personal strengths to draw upon any time life is difficult.
My counseling style is open, non-judgmental, caring, and warm. I believe in treating everyone with respect and compassion and make it a goal to always meet people where they are on their journey of wellness and healing. I utilize interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy to assist people with finding the peace they need to move their life forward.

The frequency with which you can have access to a therapist to work through day to day emotions and problem solving is incredibly beneficial for most and a very big difference from traditional outpatient counseling. I usually check messages throughout the day (at least 2-3 times minimally), seven days per week. I offer messaging, live chat, and phone sessions with availability in the evenings and weekends and limited availability during the business day. She’s awesome, super easy to talk to about anything from rough day at work to dealing with “big” issues. Very helpful and pushes just enough to make you think and work on things you’ve talked about but not too much as to make you uncomfortable! 13/10 would recommend Tara for sure, kind, sweet, fun, smart, caring, and willing to call you one your bs if needed lol.
Tara has been a very good listener, provides very useful advise. In the past I have felt that other counselors have not worked out but Tara makes me feel like we’ve know each other for years. In 2 sessions I feel like my confidence, is slowly coming back. I can say I slowly feel like myself again.
Tara is extremely caring and supportive. I have a hard time finding counselors that I "click" with, but Tara is amazing!
