I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Master’s Level Certified Addictions Professional and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I have over 8 years of clinical experience. My specialty has been working with adults and adolescents who have a wide range of concerns including substance dependence, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, trauma from abuse & neglect, challenges with careers, adjustments to life as well as grief and loss and other life events.
Before I became a therapist I practiced law for over 17 years and specialized in Family Law, Custody Disputes and Criminal Defense. I counseled client’s on a range of issues from Adoptions to Bankruptcy.
I have a passion to help people and that is why I became a therapist. My style is warm and approachable. I will provide strength and encouragement in a safe environment that builds trust and respect between myself and my clients. I believe in being supportive with an abundance of compassion. My goal is to help build self-esteem and a rapport that is conducive to helping my clients gain the courage and confidence to lead happy and healthy lives. I was so nervous about starting therapy and opening up about my issues but Taryn made me feel at ease from our very first session. Often I get upset during our sessions but Taryn never fails to support me and puts a smile on my face. My favourite thing about working with Taryn is how kind and genuine she is, and that she isn't judgemental. I find it so hard to open up to people at first, but it didn't take me long to become comfortable talking to Taryn and feel a rapport with her. No matter what frame of mind I've been in before our sessions, I always end the session feeling encouraged, and better within myself.
My favorite thing about receiving therapy from Taryn is that any problem I present to her, she suggest solutions and she suggests how those solutions will feel so I am aware of me improving my mental health.
I've only had a few sessions so far but she's already helped me so much and I cannot hype her enough! She actively listens to me and is able to keep up with my chaotic mind while still keeping me focused on the end goal.
