Terri Benton, LMHC
About me
My name is Terri, and I have been a Licensed Mental Health Counselor since 2006. I have enjoyed my work since I received my Masters in Holistic Psychology from Lesley University, in Cambridge Massachusettes. That was almost 30 years ago, before most people used the term holistic counseling. To me, that means that you take every aspect of a human being into consideration when you have the privilege of being asked to join them in their process. I grew up in a small farming community in Minnesota and have lived in the Boston area since then. I love both, and wouldn't want to be labelled as "from" either. I am both and much more. We all are. I am not a believer in labels-everyone is unique, and we all share being human. That is the basis of my work. If it matters to you in your life, then it is important to our work. Whether you are dealing with a major life change, or needing to find more meaning and joy in your life, my goal is to understand all that you are. I have found it to be an honor to be invited into an individual's internal process, and I take my role very seriously-though I like to think I use humor when appropriate. Please feel free to check out all of my information and if you have a particular question, don't hesitate to ask. It is important to find a counselor you feel is a good fit for you and your style of communication.
We are all a combination of our experiences, beliefs, values and perceptions. I want to understand yours before I presume to offer my suggestions. I have benefited immeasurably from the people I have worked with. I know what two people working together can do!
I wish you the best in your search for the best counselor for you!

My first session with Terri was such a relief. From the very beginning, she was understanding, empathetic, and genuinely present. She didn’t just listen—she made me feel truly heard and understood, which meant so much to me.
The advice and perspective she offered really resonated with me, and I left the session feeling lighter, as though a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. I felt comfortable opening up to her, and I appreciated how naturally she created such a welcoming and supportive environment.
Terri has such a warm, positive energy and was truly wonderful to talk to. After our first session, I genuinely looked forward to continuing our work together. I’m very grateful to have found someone who made me feel so comfortable and heard right from the start.
