Hello. I am Tom WIssert a Licensed Professional Counselor in Alabama. My experience over the last several years has been with drug and alcohol addictions and the co-occurring issues and causes that go along with these addictions. More recently I have dealt with many different marital and relationship problems from intimacy to communication. Using Motivational Interviewing and Active Listening I have been able to help clients see things from a different perspective and to identify problem thinking. I would describe myself as a behaviorist using a Cognitive Behavioral approach and Person Centered counseling to help client resolve problems. Being a good listener is one of my best skills and using things clients tell me to unlock some deeper issues is a great reward for both the client and myself. I am generally available to clients on weekdays and some weekends if necessary. A goal of mine is a 24 hour message return. I usually check messages throughout the day and return messages before leaving the office.

Thomas Wissert is a good listener and as your circumstances changes, he finds ways to adjust and keep the flow of the session going. Although I’m sure most do not like talking about their problems, he makes it easier to do so and he doesn’t feel like a stranger. I can go into each conversation feeling as if I’m entering a “No Judgment Zone.”

I recommend Thomas Wissert for many reasons. The first and foremost is because he is truly a compassionate therapist who cares about helping hurting people. When I saw that Better Help had assigned me a male therapist …. I was scared, anxious & truth be told, not very happy. I am a survivor of child sexual abuse and I didn’t want to speak to a man about my abuse. However, I am so glad I gave Tom a chance. He has helped me & equipped me with the tools I need to process my trauma. I highly recommend Tom to any person needing emotional support.
