Tim Knappenberger, LISW
About me
"Life doesn't come with an instruction book. We each write one ourselves as we navigate this experience we call LIFE. If you are seeking ways to help you write more joy, peace, and purpose into the story you call YOU, I encourage you to read below on how you can connect with me to achieve that very thing. Welcome!“
As a seasoned therapist in Ohio with almost 5 decades of professional experience as an individual/couples/family therapist, vocational rehabilitation counselor, supervisor, family service agency administrator, and adjunct college instructor, I have been privileged to work with a wide variety of people who've encountered a wide variety of situations and experiences. As such, I've been able to accumulate wisdom (not bragging, just testifying) that I'm able to bring to bear to assist my clients. Now retired, I offer online therapy on a very part-time basis to adults (age 18+) in Ohio. Clients describe my style as steady, thoughtful, easy to talk to, and (appropriately) humorous. Sessions are structured enough to feel purposeful, but always grounded in what matters most to you. Though therapy deals with the challenges and trials of life, it should be something you enjoy, look forward to, and feel good about having invested time and money into. Put simply, YOU drive your therapy and I serve as your "clinical travel guide."
My practice focuses on helping clients address relationship dynamics, family and marital conflicts, grief, prior trauma, and personal growth. I bring deep expertise in supporting older adults, men's/women’s issues, relational struggles, and life transitions of all kinds. I am also skilled in helping clients navigate spiritual , metaphysical, and “what’s it all about” meaning of life issues.
My therapeutic approach is compassionate and holistic, addressing challenges such as self-esteem, communication difficulties, attachment issues, and life purpose exploration. I am trained in family systems therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and rational emotive therapy (RET). I am currently in training to become an approved EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) therapist and have studied IFS (Internal Family Systems) therapy. I have extensive experience supporting clients through significant life events like death of a loved one, divorce, abuse, separation, career struggles, family challenges, and end-of-life transitions. I am committed to walking alongside my clients, offering honest guidance rooted in empathy, understanding, and professional insight.
I would be honored and privileged to work with you to see if we can achieve the changes, understanding, and growth you might be seeking. Sincerely Tim
