About me

Life can be hard sometimes, and even when you are used to handling things on your own, there may be times when it all starts to feel like too much. You might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or simply know that something in your life needs to change. Therapy can be a place to sort through what is going on, understand yourself better, and begin figuring out what you need to move forward.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Wisconsin with over 11 years of experience. I work with individuals and couples experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, relationship and family concerns, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, burnout, self-esteem and confidence concerns, ADHD, workplace and career challenges, caregiver stress, and other situations that can leave you feeling overwhelmed or stuck. I also have experience working with concerns related to addiction, parenting, codependency, divorce and separation, mood disorders, and women’s issues.

I do not believe there is one approach to therapy that works for everyone. I draw from a variety of approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy,
Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Somatic Therapy, trauma focused
approaches, and the Gottman Method. What we use depends on you, what you are experiencing, and what you want to get out of therapy.

My style is warm, down to earth, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I want therapy to feel like a place where you can be honest, but I also believe it should help you understand yourself, recognize patterns, develop new ways of coping, and make meaningful changes in your life. My goal is for you to feel heard and supported while also leaving our work together with greater insight, confidence, and practical tools you can use outside of therapy.

Love her, she is very attentive and I appreciate having Vanessa as my therapist.

I have seen Vanessa a few times now and although I thought years of therapy would’ve gotten me through my hard past, we are re-addressing and really digging into the roots of my struggles. I feel incredibly understood for the first time in a while and feel hopeful about overcoming obstacles my prior therapy hadn’t been able to address. She is responsive, thoughtful, and kind. Our sessions have made me really think about my world differently, and therefore the world differently, in the most constructive of ways.
