It’s awesome that you’ve reached out to BetterHelp. Change takes courage! I am a mental health therapist with a Master’s in counseling and have over 20 years of experience as a counselor. Much of that time has been spent working with folks addressing substance use disorder and accompanying issues such as HCV, esteem, trauma, loss, anxiety and depression. Many times, relationship and identity problems are also present and addressed. My approach is often based, in part, on the existentialistic philosophy of assisting others in finding their purpose and authentic self. This generally occurs through working on personal growth based on self-honesty and responsibility. The transformation is possible through the application of cognitive behavior therapy, that empowers them to be congruent in their thinking and actions. Challenging perceptions and hurtful thoughts are also vital. By focusing on their strengths, coping strategies are offered to assist them in managing their symptoms. My life experiences have included recovering and living with significant, chronic health challenges. My world view has further been enhanced by living abroad and working with various populations. I look forward to building a working relationship with you that is both safe and without judgement. Please contact me so I may assist you on your journey of change!

Russell has been a reliable and relatable therapist. I appreciate our sessions together.
I feel like I "clicked" with Russell right away. Great listener and gives solid feedback.
I am thankful for Russell, he is a great listener and is helping me through some painful details in my life. I have some anxiety and dealing with that can be tough but it great to know that someone cares and can help me through it.
Russell is wonderful to work with. He provides a comfortable, safe and judgment-free experience. He's very good for guidance. I won't lie I had orginally requested a female counselor but I got him instead. Now I'm glad I did. I truly feel understood when I speak to Russell about various topics. I highly recommend him, especially if you struggle with addiction or various forms of anxiety.
Seriously the best counselor I’ve ever had. He listens to me, doesn’t make me feel judged at all and I was able to be completely honest our first session. I truly look forward to our schedule time meetings due to how convenient they are. 10/10 would recommend!
While we only have had three sessions so far, I feel that Russell is hearing me when I speak and is offering me sound advice, tips and tricks, and reliable information so that I can actively work on things to make my life better. The grounding techniques that he sent to me has not only been helping me, but also help my daughter.
I’ve been working with Russell for about 2 months and he is beyond wonderful. He is open minded, authentic and has a gentle yet firm way of keeping you on your true course. I recommend him to anyone, especially we people in the LGBTQ community.
Russ has real world experience and is one of the most humble people I have ever met.
William has been very prompt with his responses and communications. He has sent guides to help open up communication and areas of concern to bring forward in our sessions. He asks open questions for me to respond and explore what I’m feeling. Very pleased I was matched with him and feel I’m truly being listened to.
Russell and I have only been working for a short time but he has already helped me understand some of my issues better.
I am now going into my third week of Therapy with Russell and we have officially hit a couple breakthroughs, now to start the process of breaking the habits and retraining the mind! Thankful to have such an understanding and insightful Therapist!
Russell has been very helpful as l I navigate this very trying period of my life. I highly recommend him.
