Yelitza Gallimore, LCMHC
About me
I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor in North Carolina with 7 years of experience in counseling adolescents and adults. I have worked with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, coping with stress, spirituality, disordered eating, assertiveness, parenting difficulties, codependency, abusive relationships, family of origin issues, LGBT-related issues, and ADHD. I have also worked with people who have experienced psychological abuse, and issues related to being a highly sensitive person and being neurodiverse.
My communication style is gentle, encouraging, and nonjudgmental. I believe in each person’s right to decide what feels right for them, as well as each person’s responsibility to craft durable solutions for a life they can feel safe in and proud of. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness-based, trauma-focused, and solution-focused methods. I also draw from somatic approaches and I offer energy tapping (EFT) to address overwhelming feelings and to shift unhelpful beliefs. This popular process is highly effective at making rapid and noticeable improvements when other approaches have failed. I will tailor our work together to honor your unique ways of processing information while building new skills that lead to a more fulfilling and empowered life.
It takes courage to reach out for support, so I commend you for that. I will meet you wherever you are on your journey, and allow you to go at a pace that feels good for you. Along the way I will ask you to be open to new perspectives, to challenge old beliefs, and to install the practices required for an upgraded life. If you are eager, inspired, and ready to take those steps, I am here to support you on that journey.

Yelitza has given me support and pushed me along in the 9 months we've worked together. I've finally started trusting myself and standing up for me in ways I've never done so because she has helped me work through me holding me back.

Yelitza has been my therapist for a year and a half. She is always available when I need her most. I work day shift so it's nice to find someone to talk to in the evenings. I feel like in that time I have gone from NEEDING her once a week and even then it didn't seem like enough to feeling like she's a nice confidante and we talk once or twice a month. She has helped me dive in to what my core hangups are and how I can refocus my stress and anxiety. We have tried different coping methods and role play out real scenarios so I can see things from a different perspective. Yelitza is professional, kind, and caring. Her gently way of speaking and engaging is refreshing and it helps me feel totally at ease. I appreciate her so much!

I want to have someone more attentive and proactive in my therapy. I want a therapist not a counsellor. Thank you

I first spoke to Yelitza when I was at my lowest point & suicidal. With just one session, she had me realizing just why I was turning to that course of action. I appreciate how calm & gentle she is & she's very encouraging.
