I am an empathetic and supportive child and family therapist, licensed in Michigan. I have over 10 years of experience working as a therapist with children, adolescents, and adults. My experience includes addressing a wide variety of concerns including bipolar, stress and anxiety, PTSD, career difficulties, relationships issues, parenting problems, and ADHD. Additionally, I have extensive experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Intellectual/Developmental disabilities and with their parents/caregivers.
My counseling style is comfortable, empathetic and understanding. I understand the challenge one faces to open up to someone about personal struggles and how that experience can be an obstacle to overcome in itself. My goal is create a space for you to feel comfortable, supported and safe from all judgment and stigma. I also believe in a “meet the person where they are” approach and will work with you to develop treatment goals that meet your specific areas of concerns and needs.
My treatment approach combines modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness based cognitive therapy, motivational interviewing, and rational emotive therapy. I believe that the connection between ones thoughts, feelings and behaviors is very powerful and balance between the three is crucial for one to find peace. I work to explain and explore this connection as well as introduce various skills for you to learn in order to make the significant changes that you are hoping to see. I believe through gaining understanding of this connection and learning we can truly have control over our thoughts, feelings and behaviors, one is able to realize the power we all have in us to truly have more control, balance and harmony in our lives. We will work closely together as a team, and I will provide the support and guidance throughout, to ensure that you are on the path towards successfully accomplishing the goals that we carefully considered and set for you.
As a therapist, I consider it a deep honor and privilege to be the supportive, non-judgmental person in my clients’ life that helps them reach their full potential. My role as your therapist is to be this objective person that you can come to with your worries, fears, doubts and other troubles and I will be your unwavering voice of support. Therapy is a very rewarding experience and requires work on both the therapist and clients’ part to achieve the goals we want. If you feel you are ready to make the first steps to achieving these life-changing goals, I am here and would be honored to support you every step of the way.

As I move through the various challenges and changes in my life, Andrea has continued to be a supportive and empathetic listener. She has helped me challenge negative thoughts and to be more present. I have gone through a lot of changes: breaking off toxic friendships, strengthening my marriage, finishing my education, changing jobs and moving, and now being pregnant, and Andrea has been supportive all along the way. I feel lucky to have met her!
Andrea has been so incredibly helpful for me since we started working together. Not only is she really easy to talk to, she also challenges me on ideas that I very much need to be challenged on. Our rapport is really lovely and I always look forward to our sessions. Andrea helps me to feel more in control of my life while also giving myself the space to create boundaries and be more realistic about my time constraints.
Andrea is great, super attentive and has really helped me!
Andrea has been a wonderful counsellor over the last 7 months. Her understanding of the issues and advice has been extremely useful and helpful. On top of the discussions Andrea recommended complimentary exercises that have become part of my daily routine. I feel that I would not have been able to cope if it was not for Andrea. Her empathy shines through as well as the critical skill of giving advice without judgement. I would not hesitate to recommend Andrea to anyone who needs to get through very difficult times.
A great woman, very professional and kind!
Andrea helped me get through a tough spot and I am now recovering with a new perspective on what really matters. She's empathetic, professional and delicately handles awkward situations with aplomb. I continue to look forward to our sessions.
I was apprehensive when I started this process, really not knowing what to expect or if this could work. In a matter of a couple weeks, Andrea brought me to a place where I felt comfortable, was engaged in my treatment and actually felt motivated for our next exchange. She is responsive, clearly a subject matter expert and has a way to make her care and concern felt (in my case) from over 7000 miles away and even though we will never meet in person. I am grateful.
She helped me a lot. She understands my weak point, my stress and worries. I appreciate her a lot. I feel comfortable and and secure when I write to her. There were moment that I was sad, negative and insecure. I wrote to her. She answered quickly and nicely. It made me calm down. I feel all the time that I am understood by her. Isn't it great?
Thank you for help Andrea. I had a mess in my head and now I see things more clearly.
I love you, Andrea!
Andrea has been wonderful. She has a great perspective to offer and she has creative ways to work through negative thoughts and feelings :) So far, I have been completely satisfied with my sessions. Andrea responds quickly and thoughtfully.
