First, thank you for checking in. Seeking help takes real courage and a healthy dose of optimism. As some very wise people have said, the purpose of life is to be happy. It's perfectly simple but not always easy. I think you've come to the right place.
I am a clinical social worker licensed in Illinois and Missouri with over 25 years experience in counseling and other therapies. I have worked successfully with people of all ages, toddlers to elders, and with many faiths and social backgrounds. I've helped people with anxiety, depression, trauma, parenting and family issues, grief and loss, and those feelings of wrongness or stuckness that can hold us back from living a full and enjoyable life.
My style is warm, accepting, and genuine, with a dash of humor if it's appropriate. My clients say that I bring a fresh perspective that helps in surprising ways. I'm a committed listener, focusing on positives and developing your skills and insight as needed. Everyone has some point of genuine strength in their life; often the biggest challenge is simply to find that, then grow it, and then the pain and confusion can fall away.
My Master's degrees are in Clinical Social Work from the University of Chicago and Cultural Anthropology from NIU. I'm trained in a wide variety of theoretical orientations and techniques - CBT, DBT and other behavioral therapies, play therapy, family systems, psychodynamic techniques, mindfulness and spiritual practice - but these are all merely options.
There is no cookie-cutter process here. Your life is more real than any theory.
And there is no judgment here, either. I only make three assumptions: we have all experienced some sort of trauma, we get to be happy anyway, and every changing moment offers choices. Choices build our lives. And they are best made in an environment of trust and support. If that sounds good to you, we'll be a good match. I look forward to working with you!

Very good listener and responder. Very positive voice.
I am very happy with Andrea. She's doing an amazing job working with me in regards to my anxiety. Thanks!
I'm in awe of finding such positive emotional support from Andrea. She understood my issues immediately. This is the first time I've tried online counseling and she has helped me tremendously in a very short time.
I think Andrea understands me, she certainly supports what I am going through and has already alleviated my stresses that were inhibiting my daily life. I look forward to working out more of my deep seated fears and returning to my full potential.
Andrea is insightful, timely and a wonderful resource!
She is amazing.
Andrea is a wonderful counselor for me. She is positive, caring, understanding, and knowledgeable about a variety of issues. I appreciate the convenience of writing when I have the time and not having to be at an appointment.
Andrea has made such a difference in helping me through a very difficult grief process. She has been caring and insightful, and I so appreciate her help.
Andrea is very helpful. She tries to understand the situation and does very good about keeping in contact even if you do not.
I thought it would be difficult to work with a counselor via an app but Andrea has been very patient, provided me with great tools and advice. The worksheets were very easy to get my thoughts across. She's helped me in many ways in the first month. Thank you!
Andrea has helped me find the light shining on the path I needed to take in my life now. It has been dim for a long time and I am able to see it brighter now. She is a really good listener and has made a great difference in my life so far
Andrea, I wanted to thank you so very much for all of your insight, knowledge and compassion. You truly helped to guide me through some extremely complex and difficult feelings. You are so kind, patient and understanding; I had never sought counsel before and this was a very positive experience for me. I cannot speak more highly of you! Once again, my deepest appreciation for everything that you have done for me.
Wonderful, attentive, genuine.
Andrea has been kind, patient, and very easy to talk to. She has followed up on me when I was busy and I really appreciated her care and concern. I would recommend Andrea to anyone who is looking for someone who is empathetic and likes a sense of humour.
I was nervous about trying counselling but Andrea was really supportive and I felt I could trust her with my thoughts and problems. She has provided much needed understanding and humour as well as practical advice. I highly recommend Andrea and BetterHelp. Please thank Andrea, Lucy Knight
She always listens very carefully to what you've said/written, and always asks the right questions. Very insightful, very caring, never judging. I went through a few before finding her!
Andrea has been a God-send. She gets my humour (a U.K. dry humour) and took the time to get to know me, understand me and help me. We have covered a broad spectrum of issues and she has helped with relationships, family, and myself.
I can't thank Andrea enough for all help and support I have received.
Andrea is really helpful and compassionate, and really responsive. She really helped me through a tough time by being someone I could talk to.
Andrea has been absolutely wonderful. She is very positive and takes a good amount of time to address each and every concern/struggle I have. I don't think I could have found a better fit for what I was looking for than in Andrea. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for an intelligent, thoughtful and kind counselor.
Andrea is amazing. She was able to provide a safe and comfortable relationship for me to explore the depths of the trauma I faced. She provided me hope, understanding, and has helped me to strengthen my resiliency. I love working with her and how much she has helped me. I'm forever grateful.
She is great! She listens, and cares.
Andrea is wonderful beyond words.
I love corresponding with my therapist, Andrea Fisher. My exchanges with Andrea are one of the few things I do "for myself" with my busy schedule, and the process couldn't be more convenient or accessible. Andrea is genuinely interested in my welfare, and consistently respectful of my autonomy and direction as a person.
In one short week Andrea has helped me with what I would have thought would have taken a life time. She helped me face my fears and realize thats all they are..She helped me to recognize my breath and until her I never knew what that was!! So thank you miss Andrea. I truly appreciate you and the help you've given me in my difficult time!!! Thank You â¤ï¸
In just a few short days, Andrea has given me a better perspective away from biased opinions of family and friends, which I greatly needed. She has taught me to focus on the positive things and stay clear of negative thoughts. I'm so grateful for that. It's good to have someone validate my thoughts and help me put the good ones into action.
