About Me

My name is Dr. Ashley Anne, and I'm a licensed neurocounselor who helps therapists, empaths, and healers move from overwhelmed and overworked to educated and empowered by teaching them brain-based philosophies and practices proven to prevent and promote recovery of compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, and burnout so they can build a life of vitality.

Your brain is amazing!

It automatically and unconsciously makes your heart beat, your lungs breathe, and your blood flow. It’s constantly scanning your environment for danger and in an instant, adapts your body to cope with it. Forever learning lessons, your brain remembers what’s kept you safe in the past and applies those lessons to present and future life.

This is very helpful when you’re in a jungle needing protection from lions, tigers, and bears (oh my). At the sight of a lion, your brain amps up your heart rate, makes you breathe quicker, and fills your arms and legs with blood so you can fight or flee. Because that's what kept you alive last time.

This same protective mechanism in your brain is very helpful when a larger, louder adult (whose protection you need to survive) yells at you to clean your room when you're a little, quieter child. Because that's what keeps you alive (by keeping you attached to your parent).

But this response is waaaaay less helpful when your boss calls on you to share your opinion and you drown in sweat everyone can see. Or when you want to ask that special someone to dinner, but you stutter and stammer instead. Or when you're unhappy in your marriage, but you're too paralyzed to do anything about it. Or when you keep eating sleeves of cookies and bags of chips without knowing why.

Your brain is amazing! But to be happy and healthy, we all need to understand how it works.

My approach to counseling is rooted in neuroscience research, and at a very basic level, I empower my clients with education and lifestyle practices to resolve disease and disorder for good. I specialize in working with women, therapists, empaths, and healers of all kinds (e.g., counselors, coaches, body workers, parents, caseworkers, nurses, doctors, EMTs, police officers, etc.).

I have over a decade of experience teaching, supervising, and training licensed counselors and counselors-in-training - and I want to bring my holistic approach to you.

I exclusively offer message and chat-based services to clients through Betterhelp (no phone sessions, no video sessions). I LOVE that Betterhelp offers these platforms and whole-heartedly believe connecting this way is completely underrated.

Texting and messaging mirrors collaborative journaling, a well-researched process known to encourage mindfulness, self-reflection, and healing. The act of writing things down presents a powerful medium through which intuition speaks and insight emerges. It allows clients to own their feelings, reflect upon their situation, AND still connect with an expert.

Plus, you can send me a message anytime, so this format is great for people who struggle to schedule sessions due to overwhelm or atypical work schedules.
