About Me

Welcome! My name is Ashley Harmon and I have been in the counseling profession for about 7 years now. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in the state of Texas and received both my Bachelors of Social Work and Masters of Science in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin. My current full-time role is working with primarily young adults and athletes struggling with a variety of issues including but not limited to mental health, trauma, disordered eating/eating disorders, family/relationship conflict and transitional issues. However, I have much expertise in the realm of trauma, specifically domestic violence, family violence, sexual assault/abuse and childhood abuse and have worked with foster children. I have worked with all ages including individual, family and group work. I have a full year training in Somatic Experiencing and am working on my EMDR Certification. My approach is very relational and client centered. I tend not to gravitate towards one particular model of therapy; however, I draw from various models including but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, EMDR and Mindfulness.

Life can be overwhelming for people who have experienced a trauma or have lost hope in finding happiness from within. This results in maladaptive coping skills and an unhealthy lifestyle. I believe in strengthening clients and their families to restore healthy lives. My calming and supportive presence allows a safe environment for clients to freely express their thoughts and feelings. Once a therapeutic relationship is established, I believe in guiding clients through working through their trauma/mental health/relationship issues, etc. by listening to their narratives and guiding them in the direction of their individual goals.

Therapy can be challenging and emotionally draining but I am here to work along side you as an equal partner/team member. I believe in empowering my clients to make their own choices and decide how they want their lives to look. This is and will always be a judgement free zone. With that said, please keep in mind that therapy is not a "quick fix." Although this is an online platform, it is still therapy and it is still a process. I can offer skills that you can implement immediately but lasting change involves a deeper exploration of issues and commitment to yourself.

I've been working with Ashley for over two years and it's remarkable how much progress I've made with my mental health.

I've had a few therapists before, but Ashley is the first one that I have really clicked with and that I have gotten the most out of.

Ashley is great! When I first started and I needed a lot of help she made time to video chat once a week. Now I don't need her as much but she still checks in and asks how I'm doing.

We have only had a few sessions but I feel like Ashley really listens to me without being worried about calling me out when I’m spiraling or not taking responsibility. She is firm but I don’t feel like I’m being criticized with “tough love." She is going out of her way to find me readings to help me better understand where my head is at.

Ashley is very sweet and actually listens to you. I appreciate that she gives me advice but doesn’t push anything on me. She also goes into detail with her responses so that you understand everything being talked about and you are never confused or mislead. I would definitely recommend Ashley to anyone needing therapy.
