Hello and thanks for stopping by! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Florida. I’m originally from New York City, where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, from Hunter College and my Master’s degree in Social Work, from Columbia University. I’ve lived in Florida since 1999.
I have been working in the mental health field for over 20 years. My experience is with individuals and their families in a variety of settings, which include the following: community organizations, hospital settings, residential, outpatient, in-home, and within the school setting. I have experience with a wide range of clinical issues, which includes, anxiety and stress related issues, depression, attention-deficit/ hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anger and aggression, intellectual/developmental disabilities, mild autism and trauma and abuse issues. Additionally, I’ve worked with family of origin issues, relationship issues and LGBTQ related issues.
My counseling style is client-centered, holistic in nature and culturally sensitive. I do my best to ensure that I provide an environment that is non-judgmental, warm and supportive. The techniques used during sessions are eclectic in nature. My approach is always determined by the individual client’s needs. I predominantly incorporate evidence based techniques such as mindfulness, narrative therapy, solution-focused counseling, and cognitive-behavioral therapy.
I strongly believe that everyone needs someone in their life that they can share their troubles and triumphs with. It takes a lot of courage to come to the realization that you could benefit from seeking assistance outside of yourself. Congratulations on taking the first step to self-discovery and inner healing. Good luck on your journey!!

I would like to say that for the first time in 21 years I am actually experiencing a very good therapy, I feel free to say anything that I feel, think or believe, even if I think we will not agree about it, that says a lot about how accepted and understood I feel, I am extremely happy about the whole process, and Bernadette is awesome.
She is very kind, respectful and non-judgmental. She takes time to know you and help you.
Immediately made me feel comfortable with her, and it’s obvious that she’s listening to me and cares about my health. Bernadette makes me feel welcome, and she does a great job at empowering me.
