About Me

I’ve known from a young age that I wanted to be a counselor and was excited to learn that I could earn a living doing something that comes so naturally. I’ve always enjoyed observing human behavior, offering a new perspective, and taking part in someone’s journey towards growth. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology, and master’s degree in counseling from the University of North Texas. During this time, I worked with children in the foster care system and as a graduate assistant for the Social Work Department. I have also worked with individuals, couples and families, primarily with those that struggle with addiction. I truly value the education and connections I’ve formed, but most importantly, I found my voice.

My counseling style is simple and straightforward. We all have beliefs about our relationships, our world and ourselves that are often irrational. In order to improve our quality of life, we have to learn to challenge these beliefs. Once we’ve identified the thoughts that are holding us back, we can begin to take the necessary and sometimes uncomfortable steps toward lasting change. When I take my counselor’s hat off, I enjoy traveling and finding the best food in town with my husband. We’re a united front against our rambunctious, furry child, Frank. I love music, the arts, writing, baking, interior design and my greatest talent is finding discounts.

I love Britney! She is such a great listener and always responds in a very respectful yet honest way. It's just what I need in counseling.

I have truly enjoyed working with Britney over the last six weeks. She is always well-prepared for our sessions, calling back points we have covered in previous sessions. She is very in tune with me as a person--I feel we are on the same wave length and it is easy for me to communicate with her. She combines deep listening with talking me through how my thought process works (and she is often spot on). She's helped me, also, to have a bit more grace and humor with myself. I'm looking forward to continuing to work with Britney going forward, and I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking counseling.
