There once was a bear that walked with a limp. The bear didn't know why it limped. Every time the bear looked at its paw, it didn't see anything unusual. This bear had problems getting along with other bears and often felt sad and lonely. The bear didn't want to do typical bear activities. One day the bear noticed a cub fall into a bush of thorns. The bear felt bad for the cub so it helped remove the thorns from the cubs body. While the bear was removing the thorns, it was quickly reminded that the bear too had stepped on a thorn when it was a cub, but never removed the thorn. The bear's paw healed around the thorn causing the bear to limp and feel the way it did. The bear quickly realized it had to go to a wise bear to remove the thorn.
The wise bear told the bear it was going to hurt and possibly make the bear feel worse because of the many years the thorn has been stuck in the bear's paw. Getting the thorn removed was a long and painful process, but once the thorn was removed, the bear felt happier and able to play with their bear friends again. How can I help remove your thorn(s)? Having a trusting therapeutic relationship is one of the first and most important steps in order to start the healing process. I provide a warm, safe and nonjudgmental space for you to explore your wants, needs, and challenges. We will focus on the thorns lying underneath the layers of your past and how we can help bring change to your experiences today. It is my passion and purpose to dig deeper in understanding those thorns and bringing healing to those wounds.
I specialize in trauma, PTSD, abuse, anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, grief and loss. I've been trained in Cognitive behavioral therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Child Parent Psychotherapy. Oftentimes our traumas stem from experiences that happened in our childhoods and we continue on with our lives never really dealing with those experiences.
