About Me

It's very difficult to be in stressful situations that can cause lots of anxiety and self-doubt. Perhaps you're looking for something more than advice from family and friends. If you're looking for a warm and inviting counseling atmosphere, I am eager to work with you to develop effective coping skills and a greater self-awareness to reach your full potential. Together, you and I can work to set goals that are appropriate and attainable for you, at your pace. For therapy to be effective for you, I work hard to build genuine and long lasting trust.

I am a graduate of Florida State University and New York University, where I received my Bachelors and my Masters degrees respectively. I am currently a PhD candidate in the Counseling program at Montclair State University. My dissertation focus is on cross-racial supervision. As a doctoral student and candidate, I have participated in numerous research that focus on multicultural issues in counseling and supervision, including issues relates to race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, spirituality/religion, and adoption. Following the completion of my PhD, I plan to become a full-time professor of Counselor Education while continuing to practice therapy in a private practice setting. I currently see clients in my own private practice, Clarity Mental Health and Wellness, LLC. Additionally, I am an adjunct professor of counseling --having taught classes at Montclair State University, St. John's University, and currently at Molloy College.

I have experience working with clients who have suffered from anxiety, depression, marital issues, self-esteem issues, suicidal ideation, eating disorders, and much more. Additionally, I believe that cultural factors are critical to the way we navigate through life. I work hard to address cultural matters, to understand how these may impact our perception of the world. I have an integrative theoretical approach where I am grounded in Person-Centered principles, but utilize tenets from Reality Therapy.

Candice was patient with me as I uncovered and explained my personal struggles. Her support was unflagging as she helped me to understand myself and my patterns of thought. She was always willing to work at a pace that was right for me, and I could not have asked for a counselor with more empathy. Thank you, Candice!

From the moment we connected she understood me, she understood my sadness and was sympathetic. And when she was sympathetic, I felt she was listening to everything I had to say. I opened up to her immediately because she made me feel like it was safe to speak to her about anything.
