About Me

Hi there, I'm Cherie! A licensed professional counselor, Navy Veteran spouse, and new mom. I'm so glad you're here! I graduated with my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in May of 2016. Prior to completing my masters program, I worked as a Case Manager for several years, so I've been in mental health for awhile. Helping & supporting others through life's difficult challenges is a passion of mine and I truly feel it is my calling.

I've worked with a multitude of diagnoses from depression, anxiety, trauma-related disorders, self-harm, personality disorders, and more. My counseling style is very relaxed and eclectic, as I use many different therapeutic approaches, primarily client-centered. I base my approach off my clients specific needs. I'm warm, compassionate, and friendly. I also like to think of myself as very down to earth and real, not robotic or "by the book." Therapy can often be intimidating and scary at times, and I work hard to assure that I provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for my clients and their families. I believe in respect, compassion, and understanding. I'm a firm believer in listening to hear and understand, not just to respond.

Remember, it's OKAY to not be okay and seeking therapy doesn't always have to mean something is "wrong." Sometimes you just need to process general life frustrations and challenges with someone who has an unbiased, outside looking in perspective. It takes great courage to seek support and I'm thrilled that you've taken this first step towards a happier and more fulfilling life! When you're ready, I'll be here to encourage, motivate, and help guide you in the direction you're seeking. I look forward to working with you!

Cherie has helped me overcome so much in such a short amount of time. I feel so much more confident in my ability to use my voice. Thank you, Cherie!

I always feel heard and validated with Cherie. She is an amazing therapist and I appreciate her approach. Having experienced a therapist that I did not feel comfortable with previously it is amazing to feel so comfortable in our sessions.

Cherie is attentive, personable, supportive and friendly. I like that she asked me what are my modes of communication and what are my needs. Still building a relationship so can’t speak to how effective therapy has been with Cherie, but I can say, it’s off to a great start.

I am new to therapy and counseling, and Cherie Ditmer has been the best guide into this. She is respectful, caring, and so very helpful while we tackle my problems and helps me grow through the anxiety and depression.
