About Me

With a Master's degree in clinical counseling, I have a bachelor's in exercise science/holistic health. As a yoga/fitness instructor and personal trainer of 40+ years, holistic health, somatic feedback and mindfulness are core components in my therapeutic approach to healing. I believe in tending to the health of our mind, body, and spirit rather than treating them as separate. I believe the are each sources of information and healing and each impact the other; I have witnessed profound changes in clients who have learned how to seek balance and harmony in their holistic health.
Sober 15 years, and with many years of experience in addictions/recovery, I have also recovered from 2 major back surgeries and understand how to manage chronic pain. I specialize in chronic pain, trauma, depression/anxiety and healing. I prefer to work with adults.
I have a humanistic approach to therapy; I embrace the magic of existentialism and Gestalt; I celebrate the capacity of the human brain and body to always seek health; I chose the viewpoint that we are energetic beings with the essence of joy our source; I appreciate the honor of witnessing and embracing life.
I would describe myself as a curious, mature, independent-thinking, solution-focused, trauma-informed, heart-embracing, optimistic woman with many ideas, skills and tools to help others enhance their quality of life.

Dana is an incredible person and therapist alike! She’s lively and lovely and REAL…all at once!

Dana and I share a lot of the same experiences, and speak a similar language and vocabulary around self help, healing and spirituality so it made speaking with here easy? Like talking to a friend. I worked with Dana for a few months at the tail end of the pandemic, and immediately following my divorce. I was dealing with overwhelming immediate stressors, as well as environmental stressors and severe anxiety. I've never been able to afford weekly therapy before, and didn't know how to do it, but I knew I needed help.
Working with Dana was wonderful! She immediately found connections between our language and approaches, and moved forward from there. Dana is a good listener, but more importantly to me, she learned when I was simply spinning in mental circles, and helped me find an off ramp to those useless, recurring thoughts of "Everything is awful" and "I can't handle this."
I always looked forward to my weekly conversation with Dana, knowing I would be able to bring up anything, and we would find a way to talk through it. She's kind, funny, fearless, honest, and very very clever. Therapy with Dana was healing, enjoyable, and challenging in the good way. I felt validated and understood. I never felt like I had to soften or change what I wanted to say. Dana is truly a safe person, and a great therapist.
When I felt ready to take a break from therapy to focus on other healing and growth, Dana was supportive and made great recommendations as to what my next steps may be.
When I'm ready to return to therapy, I know I'll seek to work with Dana again.

I engaged in therapy with Dana to help with my anxiety and depression. Within a few sessions, she helped me to see that the tools I needed were already there, I need to just stop denying myself access to them. I really appreciate her approach to the connection of mind/body/soul and have learned to be less reactive and judgmental of myself which has been an important part of my growth. Her demeanor is welcoming and joyful and yet she is also not at all afraid to dig into deep hurts and trauma.

Dana is an incredible counselor. In addition to general covid stressors I have been going through a lot of personal change over the past year, and was struggling to find myself and any form of stability in the tumult of my life in the current era. Dana was a massive help in weathering this storm. Her holistic mind-body-spirit approach and deep insights were exactly what I needed. Dana is not afraid to be open and vulnerable about her own life story when she sees how it can help her clients. She is very thoughtful and able to philosophize about poignant insights into the human condition if it is fitting. She is well equipped to (along with a myriad of other things) help those like myself who need to be better at listening to the heart and gut as much as they listen to their mind, and to disengage from obsessive thoughts. Dana is kind, attentive, and wise. If you think she might be a good fit for you I absolutely recommend giving her a shot and seeing how things go.

Dana was a breath of fresh air when I was matched with her on betterhelp! She is not just your average therapist, or what I believed a therapist was! Something clicked today in my conversation with Dana when thinking all the tools and exercises that we've been discussing together over the last few months. I had an 'aha' moment today realizing that changing my perspective, it's not work or effort but simply, yes simply, slowing down to be more in tune to myself and enjoying it. Dana was so great!! I only did a month but she was very helpful. She gave me lots of new coping skills and tricks I can keep using after counseling has ended. I worked with Dana throughout the coved outbreak. I was in a dark place with my health, having to leave my job and dealing with four children during a pandemic. The universe truly connected us. Dana was a perfect match for me. She helped me find ways to cope with my chronic pain through breathing exercises and stretching. Dana worked with me for several weeks through a really dark time in my life. Dana and I worked to together for 4 months, and it was a great experience. Dana listened to my goals for therapy, she took a holistic approach that included body, emotion and mind, and held no judgement (I struggle with body image and have been working hard to not fight my body). I felt supported by Dana, and was able to move forward and reach my goals.

Which leads me to sharing something that was a first for me: with Dana's support and encouragement, I have just completed therapy (for the time being). I know that there will be times in my life when therapy will again be a wonderful resource, and I appreciate that Dana was the one to note that I had reached my goals, and maybe it was time to fly solo.

Dana offers so many different techniques and strategies to help my take care of my mind, body, and spirit all together. Dana is like no other therapist I’ve ever had. It was out of my comfort zone and I think that helped me look at things differently. She takes a more holistic approach to handling life issues. I’m used to coming in and talking about the day-to-day (which I did on occasion) but this was more 'big picture,' how are you handling/perceiving/interacting with these individual “events” in your life. I took notes during our sessions and went back many times to reread nuggets from our conversations.

I have never once felt like I was "on the leather couch" whenever I talk with Dana. She allows space for me to feel vulnerable, but extremely safe at the same time which I think is very important when it comes to counseling. Dana is thorough in understanding your belief system so she can speak to you in a way that makes a difference. Every session with Dana I come away with tools and worksheets and things that help me through application change myself in my life. I appreciate that it's not just a fluffy sob session I could have with any one of my girlfriends. It is a productive time to find ways to change myself based on how I've lived my life the week before and things that I would like to change about myself. She's never pushy -she's very intuitive and honest. One of my favorite counselors ever!

Dana has great intuition combined with a breadth of experience in areas that align with my needs. In a short period of time I have had multiple “aha” moments. It’s still a process and I’m long from “cured” but I’m seeing areas I have control over that I didn’t see before.

I have been putting off talking to someone for a while but figured it was time. I could not have asked for a better person to talk to. Dana is an incredibly responsive and passionate person wanting to help. She is so understanding and knowledgeable. She was able to connect with me immediately and understood some of my troubles and how to turn them into good!
