Thank you for sharing information about yourself. I am so happy that you reached out for help. I am Daniel Petersen, a licensed therapist. I have provided therapy service for over 20 years working with a range of ages from adolescence to adults. I am a deeply passionate individual as it relates to helping individual's overcome whatever barrier's they may be facing in their lives. You can read more about my background, education, experience, and counseling approach by clicking on my name on this page. Please also feel free to ask any questions. Online counseling is new, and I've found it to be really effective for issues like the ones you mentioned in your message.
My counseling style is pretty laid back. I have been described as supportive, caring, and compassionate, with a pretty good sense of humor. I like to focus on identifying your strengths and helping you to maximize them to overcome your obstacles. I am here to help you sort through the things that are difficult right now and offer you a safe place to be open and honest without fear of judgment. You have taken the first and most important step by reaching out for help.
I am sorry you are having a tough time right now, but I'm really glad you are reaching out. I'd like to help you work on the struggles you are facing; and offer you a safe place to explore your thoughts and feelings. Once you respond to this message, we can get started.
Should you feel in need of urgent help or that you are in crisis at any time during our work together; please call 1-800-273-TALK 24 hours a day; or 911. This forum does not provide any type of emergency services, so I want to be sure you know who to contact if you need immediate help.
You are not alone. Things can and will get better. I am really looking forward to working with you!
P.S.: Just to let you know the goal sheet is something that is optional just to help you with some of the presenting issues that you are struggling with. It also helps me get a better sense of those problems that you would like to focus on outside of what you have already messaged me. It is not something that is required. The therapy in sessions and in general is your time and you can use to the degree that you see fit and is comfortable for you.
“My practice hours are 4pm – 6 and 7 pm - 9 Tuesday - Friday, Saturdays from 10 am – 4pm. The sessions typically run about a 45 to an hour but if you need additional time, I have no problem in scheduling that with you. I generally can respond at least once per morning and once per evening, sometimes more! You can also book a live session with me ahead of time. Please remember that BetterHelp (or specialty site!) is not appropriate if you are in crisis or in immediate need of support. In crisis situations, please call 911 or local emergency services. You can also call 1-800-273-TALK (8255) to talk to someone right away!”
