About Me

Fear, self-doubt, anxiety ... does that all sound too familiar? Often people feel "stuck" contemplating a change or even when just dealing with daily life. Maybe you are not even sure how or why or when or where to begin! This is where I can step in to help. Together we can unravel those tangled thoughts and feelings to better understand what it is that you want and then find a pathway to get you there. I will be alongside as a guide while we explore and collaborate on creating a life of inner-peace for you. I believe that you are the expert on your life and possess great strengths to face your personal challenges. My goal is to help you realize the potential that you have imagined for yourself.

With more than 10 years in the field I have experience treating anxiety, depression, substance abuse, grief and loss, relationship issues, and more. I am especially attuned to those who are in recovery, living with someone in recovery, or come from homes where addictions, mental illness, divorce, and other family dysfunction were present. I am experienced with integrating 12-step programs associated with addictive behaviors, relationships, and eating habits into treatment.

I understand the courage that it takes to build trust and feel comfortable talking with someone about deeply personal issues. I believe that you will find me to be an easy person to talk with. I strive to be kind, compassionate, understanding, and helpful. Let's chat and maybe together we can help you to get back on track.

I primarily utilize counseling strategies consistent with:
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (increases self-awareness to encourage "intentional" activities that promote happiness within you; developing coping skills; learning problem-solving strategies)
Motivational Interviewing (identifying priorities; planning for change)
Structural and Strategic Family Therapy (investigating the influence of environmental factors across the lifetime)
Psychoanalysis (making the unconscious visible for contemplation)

I am a licensed professional counselor in Pennsylvania. I also am a Certified Family Recovery Specialist. My BS is from Elizabethtown College (Elizabethtown, PA) in Human Service: Behavioral and Addictions Counseling. My MA was earned at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania (Kutztown, PA) in Marriage, Couples, and Family Therapy. I specifically sought this combination of BS/MA to interweave an understanding of external influences (family and relationships) upon an individual (you!)

Gosh, what can I say about David... Two months ago, I was in the gutter - a gutter that seemed so insurmountable I was overwhelmed with hopelessness and self-doubt. I had never seen a therapist, so I was hesitant. Two months later, I can honestly say that the best thing I did for myself was to sign on with David. He's guided me back to the light with a very compassionate ear, and a sound grip on how to overcome my struggles. It has been refreshing to be given advice and direction that doesn't include any negativity; somehow he has stood by me and guided me without making me feel bad about myself, which I thought was impossible. We somehow minimized the demons and charged forward. You will not find the stereotypical sofa therapist with the skeptical eye here; you will find an ally.

David has been an anchor in a very turbulent time in my life. He's excellent at listening, getting the necessary context and information, and digesting that before providing advice. He's a consummate professional and approaches his counseling with a humility that is so often lacking from counselors. I cannot recommend David highly enough.

David has been very responsive, listens and provides insight, and follows up which is much appreciated.

I have only had a few sessions thus far with David and was initially unsure if I would use the services of Better Help. However, the video sessions and chatting feature have been great and David was quick to both understand and offer reassurance to me in our sessions. He has never presumed, only lent an ear and helpful advice. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

David is so helpful, I feel like our sessions are so productive and calming and he’s been really helping me to think about things in different ways. I've really been enjoying talking with him.

Kind and compassionate...but he holds me accountable to goals I make. I cannot recommend him or this service highly enough.
