Hello! My name is Debby and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over thirty years of experience providing services. I have worked in a wide range of therapeutic settings including: outpatient mental health centers, intensive outpatient family based care settings, and inpatient psychiatric hospitals. I also own an organizing company, www.awayitgoesbelmont.com that focusses on helping people to learn skills to manage areas of their lives where they are not functioning as well as they could be. I have lots of experience in the area of Infertility, dealing with loss, and grief.
Originally from Boston, I went to college at Washington University in St. Louis and then came back to Boston and worked while I attended graduate school at Boston University where I got my MSW in 1987.
My approach to therapy is client centered: clients are the experts on their lives and determine the direction and depth of therapy.
I believe that the reaching out for a help is a true sign of strength and that therapy can be incredibly useful. Helping you to create greater acceptance of all of the parts of who you are is my goal and I look forward to working with you.

Debby was extremely helpful in listening, helping me understand my thoughts and feelings, and implementing effective solutions to improve my well-being. Highly recommended.
Debby is absolutely fantastic!!
When I sought therapy, I needed someone who could be straightforward, but also empathetic to the toxic context that I recently left. Debby, above all, has genuinely validated my experience and assessment of the situation. Simultaneously, she has bolstered my sense of agency and confidence, both by example and through direct encouragement.
Her well-humored and pragmatic nature were exactly what I needed to complement feeling listened to and understood. What I find most impressive is that she manages to be deeply compassionate without me feeling any type of condescension or superficiality. The truly nonjudgmental space she created felt honest, direct, and solidly supportive immediately.
Debby has helped me immensely with some long-term issues I've been dealing with and also many short-term issues and changes that come up periodically. She challenges my way of thinking while staying kind and supportive. Working with Debby has been a positive experience and has allowed me to grow personally and professionally. She always made me feel like I'm in control, and always encourages me and asks me about self care to make sure I have ways to support myself. If you have an opportunity to work with Debby, take it! I can't recommend her enough.
I loved my weekly talks with Debby. She made me feel so comfortable right away. She truly listens and helped me see things from a different perspective. Our sessions felt like I was talking with a really good friend.
Debby has been working with me for about a year and a half and has been a huge help to me. She is an excellent listener and has helped me to focus on the things that I can control and setting boundaries. I feel much more confident in myself and better able to focus my energies in a constructive way. She has made a huge difference in my life and I would highly recommend her!
I have visited with Debby a couple of times over the last few weeks, and I am very grateful to her for her professional, gentle guidance. She is a compassionate, active listener who provides attainable goals. A real gem!
Debby is a phenomenal therapist! This is my first time doing therapy and she immediately helped me feel comfortable and open to talking and sharing. She is an excellent listener and asks very thought-provoking questions that have helped me get to the root of certain issues. She is also very responsive to messages and shares resources that are relevant to me. 10/10 recommend!
I began working with Debby when my self confidence was eradicated and my skepticism of therapy was high. However, that immediately changed after my first session. Debby became my grounding force week after week. She is exceptionally compassionate and knowledgeable. I never felt uncomfortable sharing my concerns or experiences with Debby. She is open and affirming to all expression -- whether I cried the whole session, babbled off for my session, or had nothing to say at all. I felt entirely accepted and she pinpointed areas of self-growth I needed to work on. Within just a few months, my awareness and perception of life expanded to a point in which I felt confident and capable in my being again. I highly recommend Debby for any individual that needs a a true listener and not only a therapist, but friend.
Deb is very thoughtful, constructive and flexible. It was always easy to talk with her and I found her personality to be engaging and kind. I would highly recommend her; and I would seek her as a therapist again in the future.
I have been working with Debby for several months now and I am so grateful that I was matched with her. The past several months have been chaotic and challenging, both in work and in my personal life, and Debby has done a fantastic job at helping me break some bad thought processes and habits, and promote better self awareness and confidence. She asks great questions that force me to think and re-think my actions and thoughts more deeply. I look forward to continue working with Debby for many months to come.
Debby is incredible! She listens well and supports in all the ways I’d like to be supported. She has an easy time picking up right where we left off and checking in on the status of situations we’re working on. She’s exactly what I hoped for and need from a therapist. Would recommend 10 out of 10.
I greatly enjoyed working with Debby, She offered me the emotional validation that I needed. Debby was sympathetic, calming, and offered resources and suggestions to get me on a better path. With her suggestions, I'm able to have a healthier outlook which allows me to react to issues that arise with a more level head.
I’ve been working with Debby for about 4 months & I can confidently say she’s the most incredible therapist I have ever worked with. I would consider myself a pretty self-aware person, but she is always steps ahead of me. Offering me new perspectives, expanding my relationship and understanding with myself, creating action plans with me, and being such an advocate for me - always. I couldn’t recommend her more.
Debby is lovely and a great listener. She gave me alot of insights and perspectives I haven't thought of before.
Debby is my favorite therapist to date. She has been able to help me feel stable and validated throughout the pandemic. She is very comfortable and comforting to talk to. She is also very attentive and proves she really cares for me by reaching out if I go too long without requesting a session and by being flexible when I message her in times when I need a session sooner than the one scheduled.
I've been working with Debby for several months now. She has always been lovely and encouraging during some of my life's many transitions this year. It's been great having her both celebrate with me and grieve with me.
I had a great experience working with Debby. She helped point me in the direction I needed to go in. She shared some good resources with me that I’ve been using and it’s been very beneficial already. I’m happy to have been connected with Debby. Highly recommend.
I have been working with Debby for about five months and she has been very helpful to me and a pleasure to work with. She has helped me work through issues with pain management, family conflict, and depression and has helped me get to a much better place recently and has provided lots of helpful resources along the way. I would recommend Debby to anybody!
Debby is wonderful and warm and provided me immediately a safe space to air out all of my concerns. She challenged and encouraged me to be more assertive where I needed to be and helped me face some of the painful parts I’ve been putting off for a long time.
Debby Fenn has been incredibly supportive during a rough time. She went out of her way to find helpful resources, and she was always quick to respond. Her demeanor is kind and nurturing, which made it easy to open up with her. I highly recommend working with her!
Debby has been great - she listens to my concerns and helps me to feel validated about how I feel.
I had a really positive experience with Debby. She was always responsive for the logistics of scheduling and messaging in addition to providing solid advice to work through my concerns. She provided tools and and advice for coping so I could actively work on my mental health in-between our weekly sessions. Definitely a good experience!
Debby is always supportive and not pushy. She is great person to share any feelings and thoughts and I never felt being judged. Talking with Debby helped me a lot through some difficult times with family and work. I never feel like I have to defend my thoughts or explain myself excessively with Debby. I look forward to the sessions with Debby to refresh and reset myself and feel assured about myself. I am very thankful for having her to talk to.
Debby has been wonderful to work with and our counseling sessions aided me through a difficult period of time. I'd highly recommend her to anyone seeking therapy, especially for the first time, as she is easy to talk to and helped guide me. She helped me to gather my thoughts and feel more understood, capable, and have a clearer mind when I otherwise struggled with that on my own. I am very thankful that I was matched with Debby for my counseling needs.
Debby is very nice and attentive. She’s non-judgmental. I really love working with her. I would definitely recommend her.
So far, she has been a very good therapist. Understanding all my concerns, asked me questions that made me think more deeply about what I had to talk about. I would recommend her.
