Welcome, and thank you for your interest in learning more about me! My name is Dhara and I am a Licensed Professional Therapist in the state of New Jersey. I have a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology. I have had 8 years of experience working in the mental health field. I have worked in various settings, such as partial care, intensive outpatient, outpatient, as well as addictions, with clients ranging from children to senior citizens. I have the most experience working with individuals that are learning to cope with mental health disorders, as well as relationship issues, family conflict, school/job stress, and other stressors that are present in daily life. During the majority of my time in the field, I have helped individuals cope with and improve issues related to depression, anxiety, ADHD, impulse control, self-esteem, and communication.
I believe in using a person-centered approach with my clients to ensure their needs and goals are being addressed. I draw from dialectal behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused counseling, motivational interviewing, and family systems therapy. It can be difficult to reach out for help, especially with the stigma surrounding mental health. I am confident in my ability to help you overcome the obstacles in your life. I would describe my style as supportive, warm, and friendly. I can help you identify goals you would like to work towards and how to achieve them.
