Welcome! My name is Echo Darlington, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida. My mental health experience comes from working at a local psychiatric hospital for six years, both in their inpatient/crisis stabilization unit and in their outpatient clinic. I have worked numerous positions while being employed at this hospital over six years but most recently worked as a mental health counselor for the past three years in their outpatient clinic while awaiting my license.
I decided to get into the mental health counseling profession because of my own childhood issues. I encountered trauma throughout my childhood and because of this trauma, struggled most of my early years. Instead of taking a path of destruction and following in my abusers’ footsteps, I decided to go down the right path and learn how to help others who may have struggled like I did. I am an advocate for mental health services as I am proof that things do get better. Help is there and accessible, you just have to be open to it. Let me be a part of your story, the part where things turn around and start to get better!
My client experience has been working with the 18+ population. I have worked with individuals who have had both mental health and/or substance abuse issues. I have worked with clients who have had severe mental illnesses such as schizophrenia to ones who are just having “a little bit of anxiety or stress.” I am most experienced with depression, anxiety, stress, relationship issues, family issues, coping & self-esteem issues. I also have experience working with clients who are struggling with addictions, who have survived trauma/abuse, clients who are grieving a loss, clients who feel like they are struggling as a parent, individuals with bipolar, personality disorders, psychotic disorders, and ADHD. I also have run anger management groups and feel very comfortable working on anger management issues in a 1-on-1 therapeutic setting.
My therapeutic approach consists of multiple theories but relies heavily on client-centered talk therapy. I like to listen to your story, hear your issue(s), and hear what this issue means to you. From there we can figure out what clinical approach works best for you and your specific situation. We can work on acceptance, we can work on changing irrational beliefs, we can work on motivating you to make the changes that you feel are best for you, we can work on healing and moving past your problematic story, and/or we can work on finding solutions to fix whatever issue(s) you may have. I like my clients to feel heard, understood, and empowered. I am here to listen without judgement and help guide you down your path of change and greatness. We are in this together and I want nothing but the best for you and your life. Change can happen, and a better life can be had.
I look forward to working with you.

Great listener and really wants to get to know you. The sessions have helped calm my anxiety, just having someone who listens, and puts in that good feedback has made a difference. She’s also great at checking in on you!
She's been able to help support me through a very terrible experience that I'm dealing with. It's amazing to have a second set of eyes on a problem...totally gives a great feeling of hope. Thank you!
