I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who enjoys working with people to help them achieve greater levels of success and fulfillment in their lives. My passion is to help others identify patterns in thought, feeling, and behavior that are creating the feeling of being "stuck" and establishing new patterns in order to create lasting change. Identifying the intersectionality of personal experience, relationships, work, and culture helps create a clearer understanding of places that may benefit from exploration and support. My social work background affords me knowledge of systems work and an understanding of individuals as a part of the environment in which they exist.
I enjoy being able to provide compassionate and non-judgmental support to all of my clients. My approach will vary based on your needs but I do value bringing some humor into the work while also being able to be direct when appropriate. Clients would describe me as a "straight shooter" who gets to the heart of complex issues quickly. I am comfortable with short-term intensive work or a more open and long-term style of interaction. I have extensive knowledge of mental health diagnoses and treatment modalities which allows me to be more eclectic in style and flexible in my approach based on your needs and what is or is not helping.
I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a certificate in Developmental Disabilities and Human Services. I received my MSW from Tulane University School of Social Work and was awarded the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award. Since earning my degree, I have worked in a wide variety of clinical contexts. My work has ranged from outpatient outreach therapy to inpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment.

Lisa has a remarkable ability to tolerate her own affect and feelings as well as my own. I have rage attacks that seem to be the result of longstanding trauma in both my family environment and in mental health treatment contexts. She also strikes me as being bright and well versed in various modalities. And she, unlike so many mental health providers, chooses to actively do something to help me rather than choosing to be a passive bystander. I find that choice on her part as a provider has helped me feel a sense of agency again after that feeling was withheld for so long by therapists and doctors who simply would not listen.
Ms Baker is not a doctor, but she does seem to understand the old adage “listen to your patient, they are trying to tell you the diagnosis.” Regardless of how my treatment experience ends up when all is said and done, I would recommend Lisa to others and hope she has a very successful career as a social worker/mental health professional.
