Emily Thrapp

About Me

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Alaska. I have a Bachelor degree in Psychology and Masters degree in Counseling Psychology. I have been counseling people across the lifespan for 6 years, but I particularly love working with adults. I am comfortable addressing anxiety, depression, grief, relationship problems, insomnia, life transitions, chronic pain/illness, and perinatal issues. I've also worked with elders and their caregivers to address memory problems and end of life issues.

I believe the choice to find the right counselor is deeply personal and I strive to honor this. I respect that you are the expert on your own life and my role is to support and help you to seek the solutions to life's struggles that are unique to you. As a solution focused therapist, it is important to me to partner with you in order to develop the right set of tools you will use to begin making forward progress towards your identified goals.

Through my experience working in the field of counseling, I have come to truly appreciate addressing the person as a whole. I take into account other lifestyle factors such as sleep, nutrition, physical health, and spirituality in addition to social factors that may be contributing to a client's presenting problem. I look forward to helping you explore the solutions that are within you and supporting you in reaching your wellness goals.

Emily has been the only counselor that I’ve wanted to keep for longer than a year. We are going on 2 years now and I intend to keep her as long as she is willing to have me. I 100% recommend her to anyone!

I can’t give enough gratitude to Emily. She has guided me when I’m lost and brings me back to myself time and time again. My mind is put at ease and filled with peace.

Emily is really helpful, she gives me the type of interactive feedback and advice I'm looking for and is great for video counseling sessions. She is very responsive and I highly recommend her.

Emily has changed my life. She make me feel comfortable about myself. I am more confident about myself and what I want in life, and am a more assertive person. All of these not only effect my relationships in life but also effect the way I communicate with people around me. Less worrying is the most important thing because I can enjoy a great moment in my life more without thinking about something that not necessary, my life is more happier, just like what I wanted.
