Hello and welcome.
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with a Masters degree in Psychology. I have 19 years of experience counseling people in private practice, hospitals, schools, and corporations.
I imagine you are here because you are feeling stuck, or are going through a difficult time. Sadness, anxiety, grief, insecurity, relationship struggles...I really believe these are all part of being human.
The good news is, we can learn ways of working with our thoughts and emotions so that we suffer less, and feel more happy and at peace.
Sometimes just feeling really heard and supported in a non-judgemental way can in itself be very relieving and healing.
As your counselor, I intend to not only help you through this time, but also to provide you with new perspectives, tools, and insights that you can take and use throughout your life.
At an earlier time in my life, I dealt with a lot of sadness and confusion. Looking for answers, I pursued interests in philosophy and world religions. Eventually, I landed in Psychology, studying both Eastern and Western therapy approaches.
While I view everyone as an individual with unique circumstances, there are 3 basic principles that I tend to bring into my work:
1. Exploration and Discovery
I use mindfulness techniques to help you quickly but deeply tune into yourself, and get to the core of thoughts, emotions, and beliefs. Often these patterns are outside of your everyday awareness! It can be very enlightening and empowering to work with yourself on this deeper level.
2. Examining Patterns
Once we identify the deeper thoughts, feelings, emotions, and behaviors, we can look to see how these are operating in your life. Are there patterns that are no longer serving you or contributing to distress?
3. Practical Action
When you feel ready, we can look at actions you can take in your everyday life to deal with your situation, feel more mastery over intense emotion, and improve your relationship with yourself and others.
Please note, because I want you to get the most out of your counseling experience, I do not work with clients who request asynchronous messaging only. I find that messaging is a wonderful way to check-in between sessions, but to really benefit from the techniques and methods I use, phone, video, and sometimes live chat will bring the best results.
