I have my master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in Minnesota. I have over four years of experience in the mental-health field, and during this time I have worked in a variety of settings, including: in-home skills services, adult day treatment, group therapy, individual therapy, community mental health, and private practice. Most of my experience has been working with teens and adults. Furthermore, I have worked with individuals who are dealing with a wide variety of issues, including: depression, anxiety, PTSD, domestic violence/abuse, bipolar disorder, low self-esteem, and career related issues. I also have a special interest in working with individuals with disabilities and their family members.
I take a very warm, positive, and strengths-based approach. I also believe that one of the most important aspects of therapy is comfort and trust within the therapeutic relationship, therefore I am always open to questions and feedback. Furthermore, I use a variety of techniques, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and positive psychology.
Thank you for reaching out and I look forward to working with you.

She was very upfront about how we would proceed. She is welcoming and friendly and is great at listening and responding to what I have to say. She also helps by using guiding and open ended questions that really make me think about a variety of situations.

Written on Mar 05, 2022 after therapy with Emmalynn for 1 year and 7 months on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, relationship issues, family conflicts, intimacy-related issues, self esteem, anger management, and adhd
Emmalynn listens to not only the topics that I want to discuss in therapy but also to how I process things. This skill led to recommending exercises which have been used to guide our sessions, I find this helpful to keep on track with things that I want to process in therapy. She also provides resources which I also find to be a good guide and provides terminology to dig more into what I am feeling or be able to better communicate those feelings. Even being able to just talk through things has helped me so much more than journaling had which is the mental health practice that I was doing before investing into therapy. I still believe journaling is helpful but even better when paired with a trusted therapist like Emmalynn.

I have been working with Emmalynn for over a year and she is a fantastic counselor. She is excellent at really listening to what I have to say and reflecting it back to me in a way that helps me find solutions, rather than giving advice or homework. She is gentle, non-judgemental, and thoughtful.

Emmalynn is amazing!! She allows things to go at the pace you’re comfortable with, and I felt free to tell her almost anything. She seems to really care about her clients, too.

Emmalynn is a fantastic counselor and got me to a much better place. A great listener, but also readily offers suggestions and really makes an effort to tailor your treatment to your needs. Understanding, thoughtful, patient, and made an effort in terms of scheduling and availability that i felt went above and beyond. Got me through the worst year of my life.

Emmalynn is an amazing counselor. She is very empathic, listens carefully, and considers all options and searches for the best advice before answering. I really get the feeling that she cares about my problems and tries her best to resolve them. She is also very responsive to messages and provides good online resources for reading when needed.

Emmalynn is great at explaining the basics and providing relevant and helpful resources. Her style is less inquisitive and more educational and emotionally supportive; she only works with whatever you’re able to bring to the table on your own. She is an effective listener and communicator. She’s also great at validating your experiences and helping you organize your thoughts. I’d recommend her for someone new to therapy process with clear objectives.

Emmalynn is a great counselor! This was my first time trying therapy and I was nervous about it but she made me feel comfortable about discussing my issues. She helped in creating practical solutions and mental exercises for me to use in my daily life. Additionally, she's very easy to talk to and a really good listener. I'd highly recommend her.

Emmalynn is an absolutely wonderful counselor! I've had multiple therapists/counselors, and she's the only one that I've felt comfortable opening up to. She listens, makes it easy to talk, offers great insight and advice, and uses the approach that works best for you. I always feel so much better after talking with her, and feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders after a therapy session with her. I highly recommend her to everybody. She's kind, caring, empathetic and all in all a great counselor!
