My name is Fatim Lelenta and I am a Mental Health Counselor licensed in New York. I have experience working as a university career counselor, family therapist and case manager helping children, adults and families.
Area of Focus: In my previous experience, I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including: narcissistic parents/family members, depression, anxiety, major life changes, navigating parent-child relationships and career transitions. I have a unique skillset in working with: Self-Identified Women, People of Color and LGBTQ.
I have a counseling style that is warm, supportive, encouraging and interactive. I believe building trust with each client is essential to the growth and development of the therapeutic relationship. Through our sessions, I aim to provide a safe space for you to share your thoughts, ask questions and try out new techniques. I use a person centered approach along with evidence-based interventions to help you get closer to reach your goals.
My approach is drawn from a person-centered and cognitive-behavioral counseling style, however, I aim to tailor each session to meet your unique and specific needs. I received my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Purchase College and a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Fordham University, Graduate School of Education. I have additional trainings/certifications in mindfulness, family therapy and career coaching.
It takes bravery and courage to make the necessary steps to achieve change. Please feel free to reach out if you would like to work on that journey together.
I look forward to connecting!

I really appreciate all the help I've received talking with Fatim, I know we never actually had a real session but we did chat a lot and it gave me a place to vent without judgement. Fatim helped me with quite a bit of self realization in the process. So for that I thank you.
Fatim is an excellent therapist. Very knowledgeable and easy to talk to.
I think Fatim was very patient and understanding with me, and I felt like she was able to sympathize and empathize with my situation very much. She was warm and caring. The materials she provided for me was also very helpful, and she was always very responsive and available for the times I needed to talk to her. I would definitely recommend the services she provides to others.
