Hello!

My name is Jamal Jones. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. My practice is my passion because I make the world a better place by helping individuals, couples and families go from "surviving to thriving". As a mental health provider, I have worked for churches, the government, government contracted agencies, hospital outpatient, and correctional settings within the San Joaquin Valley. I am uniquely gifted in helping young adult and middle-aged men who are unhappy, hopeless, helpless, and anxious about their lives, relationships and careers; discover the secret to being content in any situation, experience freedom Christ, and live their lives to the fullest.

Your therapy sessions with me are safe, confidential and sacred. I respect your hurts, habits, hang ups, difficulties, failures, insecurities, and whatever else you bring to the therapeutic relationship. Come to therapy as you are. You will not leave the same!

The individuals I work with who have the best outcomes to treatment prefer an approach to therapy which integrates positive psychology within a cognitive behavioral framework. I will teach you how to use the cognitive model to “think about your thinking” in real life situations you present in therapy. You will become aware of negative thought patterns and unhelpful beliefs contributing to your pain and frustration, preventing you from reaching your fullest potential! During our time together you will notice improvement in your ability to cope with life, monitor and self-regulate your emotions throughout the day, gain clarity of thought in moments of distress, function at your optimal level, and sustain short-and long-term mental wellness. I will be provide with tools and encourage you to utilize resources that will enable you to “be your own therapist” and teach others within your sphere(s) of influence to “be their own therapist” as well. Jamal is awesome! He is very understanding, and will relay what you said back to you, while offering insight. He asks good questions. I have learned a lot about myself, about relationships, and about emotions, since starting therapy with Jamal.

I believe you have an amazing therapist in Jamal, especially for individuals in the black community. He has a solid professional grasp on the issues that go on within the community. He's good about keeping that continued conversation going during off hours of our sessions. Finally, he comes off genuine and honest, making the environment a safe and comfortable place.

Jamal is one of the best counselors I have ever had the pleasure of working with. When using BetterHelp I was really skeptical and worried about the experience I was getting into. I’ve been in counseling before but my parents always had a part in picking my therapist. I was truly blessed to be placed with Jamal. He’s been a God send. So understanding, and I can attribute me getting my mental health back in a better place very much to him. He’s helped me so much and I plan on continuing to work with him.

Jamal is an exceptional counselor. He really listens, takes notes, and he "gets it". He understands and will work with you through anything you've got going on. Jamal is down-to-Earth , sincere, and gives 110% into his work. I highly recommend working with him.

Mr. Jones is such a calming person. He listens and offers many solutions, not just one. He takes your own personal boundaries into account and comes up with ways to work on yourself according to them. I love that is teaching me to use my faith to get through struggles, and that he also prays for me in our sessions. He will definitely give it to you straight when need be, and i appreciate that very much.

Jamal has been the best therapist I’ve ever had. This was my first time in therapy and I went through two before being paired with Jamal. Honestly this guy is amazing and has been there with me through a lot I had a horrible stigma with therapists and never thought they actually cared but I know he does he’s helped me bring more structure into my thought process which has definitely helped and although he is frequently busy for scheduling sessions he’s always there when I message him.

Jamal is very genuine in his interactions. He makes certain times feel like a normal conversation, that may otherwise feel uncomfortable, when it comes topics you might feel embarrassed to speak about. I appreciate that and would definitely suggest having some conversations with him.
