About Me

Greetings. My name is James Garland, though I typically go by Jim. I received my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University, and my undergraduate degree in Psychology with an Emphasis in Counseling from Colorado Mesa University. My approach to therapy involves philosophies and techniques from both Person-Centered Therapy and Individual Psychology. From a Person-centered therapeutic approach, I am a firm believer of the idea that I cannot “fix” you. What I can do is work with you to help you find better ways of coping with various issues you may be experiencing now and in the future. Individual Psychology promotes the following ideas: Our past does not determine our future. We are in control of our lives and must take ownership to make the needed changes to create the outcomes we desire. I look forward to getting to know you and working with you on your needs, goals, and life’s pursuits. Thanks for taking the time to read about little bit about me.
