Hi. Welcome to my bio. I'd like to share some information about myself. I have 5 years of experience as a professional counselor, with 20+ years in healthcare administration. During my years in healthcare administration I was in management for 17 years (consistently coaching, mentoring and training). During that time I had to balance career and family, raise 2 children, grow professionally, and trying to grow personally. The challenges of those years prompted me to change my career to help those who struggled like myself. During the past decade I've personally and professionally learned how to balance my life, use positive coping skills, lower stress, and just have fun. This helped deepen my conviction that a person should be supported as a whole, addressing connections between the mind, body, and spirit.
I have a Ph.D. in Health Psychology and a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. My dissertation focused on using video public service announcements to motivate people to engage in physical activity. In 2016 I completed a study abroad for 4 months to further my cultural understandings. I am also certified in Wellness and Nutrition counseling because I believe in balance between the mind and the body.
As a therapist I use cognitive behavioral therapy with a solution-focused approach toward resolution, healing, and peace. A solution focused approach means I work with you to pick goals and then we discuss how to reach those goals. We can continue to develop new goals or just explore personal growth each week. In addition, I use several techniques specific to anxiety, life balance, and positive coping. I also use DBT (dialectical behavior therapy) and REBT (rational emotive behavior therapy) techniques to help encourage change. In therapy, I tend to encourage different ways to retrain the brain and reach the goals set by my clients.
I always like to let people know, while I love tele-counseling, I do work in a clinic seeing clients face to face. For this reason I am not online at all times. I am available at different times for Live Sessions. I do get online at least 5 out of 7 days a week (trying to balance my work and personal time) to respond to messages. Please feel free to ask any questions so that you can get the counseling experience you are looking for.

She is a good counselor.
It has been enormously helpful to work with Jennifer. She is wonderful at challenging me to think about and do things differently. I feel that she genuinely cares about my journey and wants me to succeed.
She is great, not pushy at all. I love she gets I’m super busy and may not be as responsive as normal people. It doesn’t phase her at all she’s still there when I need her.
Thanks Jen for the support ... it will be a year soon that you are supporting, listening! You helped me through the anxiety crisis ... and I appreciate the way I can « talk » to you !!!
I've greatly benefited in my personal and professional life from the guidance and expertise of Dr. Erickson.
Dr. Erickson is fantastic! I wanted help understanding different types of aggression in the workplace and she’s helped me identify and know how to better respond to different types. She’s also encouraged me to live a full life outside of work. I’d highly recommend her.
I feel listened to by Jennifer. It’s very obvious that she fully reads and reflects on my (very long) messages as she covers every single concern I mention. She is approachable and I am finding her DBT option for my BPD to be the most useful yet. I would highly recommend her to anyone.
Dr. Erickson really takes the time to listen and provides helpful techniques and tips for dealing with anxiety. She asks thoughtful questions, and I enjoy working with her. Highly recommend!
Jennifer is wonderful. Positive, knowledgeable and supportive.
In a few short weeks Jennifer has become a trusted advisor and, thanks to her network of contacts, has become a valuable resource for helping me to overcome barriers to my well-being.
I learned about BetterHelp via Mental Illness Happy Hour and am thankful for the opportunity to work with Jennifer.
Talking to her convinced me to keep trying.
She is very patient and gives really great advice. She explains things in a way that is easy to understand. Very supportive.
I have been dealing with coming to terms with some shocking health problems and that news had an impact on me emotionally. Talking with Jennifer helped me have perspective when dealing with my family, doctors, hospital staff, even my own thoughts about myself, or my new kitten. I’m glad she was a part of my life during this difficult process.
Jennifer is great, she was objective and provided clear and concise strategies for me to tackle my problems. I felt great after only a few sessions and have my life in control again.
Very responsive to my messages. In fact, she sometimes messages me again before I get back to her which show she cares. She is very easy to talk to and nonjudgemental. I like that she sends me exercises to complete that make me think. I feel like I have learned a lot in just the short amount of time I have been chatting with her.
Jennifer has been absolutely helpful with my personal issues no matter what they are! She provides detailed advice, easy to follow solutions and provides tools and resources for easier coping and putting your life in order. I couldn’t ask for a better counselor. Best decision I ever made was contacting Jennifer
Jennifer is extremely knowledgeable. She always knows exactly how to help.
Jennifer is extremely helpful, understanding, and accommodating. I’m really glad I was placed with her.
Jennifer has been the best! She's not only understanding and caring, but she has a fantastic perspective of the world. She is incredibly professional, and I can tell she has years of experience in the field because she always knows the right thing to say to help me feel better. Not to mention, she genuinely cares. You will feel listened and wholly understood at all times.
