The healing process of therapy can reduce suffering as well as being a process of discovering one's authentic self. Developing self-awareness and acceptance, working through the roots of your personal problems, making lasting and powerful changes, and finding meaning and richness in your life is an empowering process that I am so grateful and honoured to be a part of. The approach I use is effective for depression, anxiety, issues of trauma and abuse, relationship concerns, and connection with yourself and others.
I believe that each individual has unique strengths and talents and the capacity to find answers for healing within; thus, my practice is based primarily from a Rogerian or Client-Centered approach. Each individual begins their therapeutic journey from a different starting point, and I respect that place.
I am a certified Yoga Teacher and have taken specialty courses on yoga therapy. Incorporating yoga poses, philosophy, breathing, and meditation can allow for more meaningful and deep self-awareness and healing than through the process of talk therapy alone.
I earned my Master's Degree in 2006, and have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) for 14 years. Since that time, I have worked with a variety of populations, including wilderness therapy with youth, drug & alcohol treatment with adults, crisis call lines, and treatment centers for children & adults with a history of severe trauma and abuse.
