First, let me take a moment to congratulate you on wanting to change your circumstances and improve your mental health. That takes courage. You are brave and I would be honored to walk alongside you in this process.
My name is Brittain West. I am a 42 year old Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor from western Kentucky. I received my Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling in 2005. I worked in a community mental health agency for eleven years and successfully worked with people from a wide variety of backgrounds. I excelled in working with individuals with relational issues, addictions, depression, unexpected life changes, and a variety of other issues. I was frequently tasked with working with individuals that had very severe symptoms because I have an ability to cut through a lot of the noise and focus in on the heart of an issue. I also ran residential short term and long-term rehabilitation programs for addictions.
I approach treatment with the mindset of how we can most effectively and quickly complete the process while equipping and empowering you. My goal is for you to continue your life with all of the tools you will need to handle situations that you face. I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Systemic Therapy, and Solution Focused-Brief Therapy throughout treatment to help you achieve your goals.
Choosing to enter into counseling is a big step in your healing. I would be honored to help you along that path. I have experience, not only as a counselor, but as a client for myself and my family. I believe you are the expert in your life. My goal is to help you use what you already have available to you while also teaching you some new skills to successfully handle whatever you face. You have within you the ability and power to make all of the changes you need. I am here to help bring that out of you and give you the tools you are missing to accomplish the goals that YOU have for your life.

Britain is one of the first counselors ever spoke to but I truly feel it’s OK to be open and honest with. I have shared with him so what times I like doing our sessions via zoom as it takes the stress is someone setting the street in front of your way. I appreciate you brings in his faith during our session and was able to relate back to scripture which is extremely important to me
He’s a great listener, and gives great advice. Has been very helpful in my stressful journey. Still working out some things and although and have a long way to go but I know that with his help I will get through it
Brittain listens very well and asks follow on questions!
John has been very helpful to me. He is a good listener and always attentive in our sessions. I would recommend him for others who are seeking counseling.
Still a bit early to really be able to tell, but so far I really enjoy working with Brittain. He listens, tells me his opinion on and offers suggestions to overcome a struggle point. So far, I would recommend him to anyone but would like more time to develop the relationship before I could give a full evaluation.
So far he has been great! Would recommend very easy to talk to.
Brittain has been really great. He adapts to my moods when we're meeting and seems to be able to help me pinpoint deeper roots to my recurrent issues, whether they be with work, home, or extended family. He's supportive, but not afraid to point out when I can be the first to make a change. I'd recommend him to anyone needing a friendly face and calm demeanor.
John seems like a great counselor he seems to ask the right questions to try to figure out the source of the problems I am having.
I am very thankful for John (Brittain). He seems very intentional about helping me, he listens very closely and I don’t feel like he is judging me. I remembers little details and checks in on me throughout the week which I really appreciate.
