Kate McDonald

About Me

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida and I am passionate about helping and serving others through counseling. I received my Master’s in counseling and I have been providing mental health counseling since 2007. I began my career in a residential treatment setting. This allowed me to gain experience and confidence treating challenging cases that included but was not limited to mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and trauma-related issues. Although the work was challenging, it was very rewarding to witness my clients change and grow through the counseling process. In 2014, I transitioned to community and outpatient counseling and I currently counsel college students face-to-face at a local University. I have seen and heard it all!

It would be my honor for you to share your story with me to see how best I could serve you. My approach to counseling includes helping you set realistic and achievable goals as well as processing sources of emotional pain. I have had training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Informed care. We will work together to individualize a treatment plan that is right for you. You are doing the right thing by taking steps to take care of yourself. I would be happy to help you on your journey.

Kate is compassionate and knowledgable about the issues and challenges I have faced. Her responses are full of empathy and good judgement. I have relied on her very much in my grief process and she always was there.

When I was matched with Kate, I really hit the jackpot. I came to her broken and damaged, not being able to see through the pain of my past and present. Thanks to her understanding, encouragement and expertise, I can now see a bright future.

Kate has been wonderful in all aspects of counseling. She is understanding, empathetic, nonjudgmental, and most of all gives relevant and specific advice to your particular concerns or issues. She makes a point to remember things you have said previously and checks up on these areas with you. I feel comfortable telling her anything, and I appreciate and anticipate the advice she gives back. Kate also tries different strategies to find the ones that work best for you, and she has been my best experience with a counselor so far.
