About Me

Welcome! I am a Licensed Psychologist in Minnesota with over 22 years of experience providing counseling and assistance to people experiencing pain or distress. I love working with people and appreciate the unique qualities of each individual. An important part of working with clients is learning about who they are, their strengths and challenges, and what is important to them. My goal is to help them enhance their lives and value themselves. To do that, it is vital that I help create a trusting and comfortable environment where clients can achieve their goals quickly and successfully.

I will use a relationship-based and strengths-based approach along with cognitive behavioral and other therapeutic strategies in our work. We will work together to identify your goals and a plan to achieve them. I will listen carefully, with empathy, and will help you gain insight into your key concerns. I understand the impact of past events on current issues and can help you identify triggers and change your response to them. If you are experiencing shame, as so many people do, we will bring that out into the open and find ways to reduce or eliminate it. I will provide feedback and direction to help you start achieving your goals as quickly as possible.

Self-care will be an important part of our discussions. How we treat ourselves impacts every area of our lives and making even one small positive change can have a major positive impact. I will make recommendations when needed and support you in making changes.

My specialties include depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, workplace concerns and relationship issues. I can also help you with parenting skills, life transitions, and self-esteem. I have experience as a life and executive coach and can utilize those skills and perspectives to help you achieve your ideal life.

If you are interested in working together, message me and let’s find out if we are a good fit!

I have tried therapy many different times and I am so grateful to have found Kate. She is kind, genuine, empathetic, and she empowers me to be my best authentic self. I can't adequately describe how much working with her has changed my life. I recommend her to anyone!

Prayers work and led me to BetterHelp and Kate. A long and painful road led me to ask for help, and believing that there is help through faith made the time and investment worthwhile. Kate is caring and bright. She asks good questions to understand your concerns and disappointments. She intently listens and communicates using her skills and intellect. I thank Him for leading me in the right direction and into Kate’s care. Highly recommend Kate!

Dr. Roth has absolutely changed my life for the better. I have been able to talk through my trauma and fear, and find ways to work through them to be able to be a more whole, authentic and joyful person.

Kate is the best counselor I’ve ever had after years of therapy. She listens so well and helps me find my own solutions. Therapy with her has been a huge help to me, especially during COVID.

Kate is my confidante and advisor through a very tough period of my life, where I am trying to leave a very abusive relationship with my little son. She has been there for me through so many upheavals this situation brings, encouraging and anchoring me through this process of moving forward. She has gone over and beyond when the situation beckons, to help guide me through emergencies, and after a number of months of speaking with her I feel her presence in my life is a lifeline in all this mess, something I really appreciate to keep the momentum going. She is very knowledgeable about my circumstance regarding NPD, and provides solid exercises that can address specific issues I face, and genuinely caring.

Kate does more for my mental health than I thought was possible with something like this. My only sadness is that services like this aren't more accessible to society at large.

My concert has helped me in more ways than I could ever imagine. In several months I have built more confidence, shredded some of my insecurities and feel like a completely different but better person.

Working with Kate has been life changing. I began the process after not knowing where to turn or how on earth to find a good therapist without going broke. Trying to figure out the solution while also working through postpartum anxiety was not easy. I finally signed up and thought I would talk with her for about a month and hopefully be in a better spot in order to not need to spend more money. After just a week I could already feel my anxiety melting away. I have now been working with her for about 5 months and my husband has also been joining our sessions. She has given me so many different techniques to utilize and has supported me every step of the way. She makes me a better person, mama, wife, and employee. I genuinely look forward to check ins and video chats with Kate, even if it means she is going to hold me accountable for not following through on my goals. I cannot day enough good things about her.

Kate is nothing short of a god send.

My wife and I needed help in our marriage. Kate created a space where we both felt heard. That space helped us heal, find peace, and ultimately grow into a much healthier relationship. After marriage counseling I’ve decided to stay on with her to help with my own issues. Again - she has been exactly what I’d hoped to find: compassionate, competent, consistent, professional, and most importantly helpful. I’m tapering down from my meds, starting to read again, and shedding a lifetime of self limiting BS.

We need more Kates in the world.

Kate has been very understanding since I've started working with her. I feel like there's finally someone on my side that will help me get through some of the personal issues I have. She also has an uncanny ability to peg exactly how I feel even if I don't immediately recognize it myself. We've really only just gotten started but I feel like I'm going to make a lot of progress with her!

Great at understanding and nonjudgmental.

Kate is awesome! It took me a long time to find a counselor right for me, and I’m so happy I found her! I was so nervous about starting therapy but she makes me feel comfortable to tell my experiences without feeling judged and she helps me work on ways for me to become the person I want to be. She’s great! :)

Kate was amazing at helping me work through my anxiety issues and triggers over the last two months. She gave me some excellent tools for managing my anxiety and building my confidence.

Kate Roth feels like she understands exactly how to deal with an aggressive path to bettering myself. She's step by step with me the entire way and I don't think I've had this type of teamwork toward a broad mental health goal in my life. She's very easy to talk to, absolutely not judgemental, and challenging. You'll sit there throughout the day self-reflecting eagerly and motivated to race toward any goal you put in front of her. You absolutely get what you give with Kate. With me, the results have been fantastic and I'm highly motivated to keep just busting forward in leaps and gains.

Written by J.E. on Feb 23, 2020 after counseling with Kate for 2 weeks on issues concerning stress, anxiety

Kate has allowed me to look deeper into the problems I’ve always struggled with, and figure out how I could manage and address them. I’m still early in the stages of self help, but I feel I’m in good hands with Kate Roth.

Written by I.S. on Feb 20, 2020 after counseling with Kate for 2 weeks on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, family conflicts, self esteem, and bipolar disorder

Kate does a really good job at listening to me and respecting what I have to say. It's only been about a week or two, but we're already getting to the bottom of some really deep-seeded issues I've been dealing with.

She is a good listener and responds with healthy ways to look at life.
