I have been a psychotherapist in private practice for over 12 years. In addition, I have worked in diverse settings such as with the geriatric populations in nursing homes, with individuals experiencing acute symptoms of major mental illness in in patient hospital settings, and for community mental health settings.
I specialize in treating individuals experiencing trauma, resulting from childhood abuse or repeated exposure to trauma, who have developed negative beliefs of self as a result of the trauma. The form of therapy I use is exposure based, which is a form of behavior based therapy. The focus of therapy is to restructure a persons core foundation to create a healthy and stable realistic and appreciative view of oneself. It goes at a slower pace than other forms of therapy because there is a focus on getting to the core of the problem rather than focusing on symptoms alone. There is also a special focus on relationship to emotions and attachment style. The outcome will result in the client experiencing a healthier relationship with their emotions and being able to successfully build and maintain secure attachments in their interpersonal relationships.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Dr. Katherine Ferrara. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
We click really well. Thanks to her guidance I'm more able to sit with feelings I used to shrink away from. I'm trusting and listening to myself more and I'm starting to experience a richer emotional and interpersonal life.
Dr. Ferrara’s is the best!
Dr. Ferrara is an amazing listener, supportive and very insightful. I've learned so much in my time speaking with her. You can tell she genuinely cares and wants to help.
She is an amazing listener. I found she was authentically concerned at some of my issues .. if I was just down and out and just wanted to vent with no feedback she was willing to just listen and acknowledge my feelings without lecturing or pressing me. This woman is a realist and is no BS ... truly understands reason and logic
Thank you for your help and service Dr.Ferrara
I appreciate the honesty and expertise Dr. Ferrera provides. She has the ability to listen and give workable insight into our situation. Its been a good fit for our marriage counseling.
This is my first time doing any sort of therapy and she has made it as comfortable as it can be, even though I'm dealing with some tough things. It's been a rewarding experience so far.
I had never had any counseling. Dr Ferrara made feel very comfortable. Her perspective on my personal issues has been very valuable. I would happily recommend her to any looking for a great therapist.
