I have served many people in my 40 years as a mental health counselor and life coach. I have helped people with stress, confusion, anxiety, depression, grief, fear, trauma, abuse, loss, major life transitions, and feeling really stuck. Working through these issues with my clients has taught me the importance of compassion, respect, and empathy. I hold the belief that change is possible when a person finds a safe and comfortable environment in which to identify, clarify, understand, and manage the challenges and issues they face in order to find emotional healing.
I am a compassionate, authentic, non-judgmental listener. My approach to counseling is to help people identify and foster their strengths, explore strategies and skills to manage emotions and stress, communicate more effectively, problem-solve, and develop self-awareness, self-determination, self-expression, and self-esteem on their way to gaining a sense of direction and control. My therapeutic approach is eclectic, but is based on Cognitive Behavioral, Rational Emotive, and Behavioral Modification therapies to foster understanding of the relationships between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I also employ the concepts of Emotional Intelligence, Positive Psychology, energy medicine, and healthy lifestyle choices. I respect the importance of working toward balance of the person as a whole, mind, body, and spirit. I will hold a safe place for you to discover and develop your own wisdom and understanding.
My clients are mostly adults, both individuals, couples, and families, but I also work with adolescents over 15 and seniors. I am proud to serve military families and Vets, as well. The issues most often presented are relationships, parenting, communication, stress management, anger, addictions, eating disorders, and life transitions, including marriage, divorce, unplanned pregnancy, adoption, and blended families.
