My interest in Psychology started in high school, it was then I began my journey. When I was a senior in high school, I started taking college level Psychology classes. I received my undergraduate Degree in Psychology from Montana State University in 2008. During my college career at MSU, I worked with abused, neglected, and traumatized children, as a case manager.
After graduating from MSU, I moved to Denver Colorado to start my Master's Program at the University of Phoenix. I graduated with a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2013. During my career at U of P. I worked with brain injured adults, as well as borderline personality adults at Fort Logan Mental Hospital. I shadowed two therapists, a female working with sex offenders, and a male working with intermittent explosive disorder children.
Since my graduation from University of Phoenix, I have moved back to Montana, received my license as a Counselor, ( LCPC) and have been practicing behavior therapy with adolescence at the middle school level for the last 4 years.
Personally, I have a 1.5 year old baby girl, and a 11 year old step daughter, and a new baby girl due in June, 2018! My family and I enjoy obvious Montana activities, including, hiking, fishing, camping etc. With strong regards to family interaction, inclusion and communication. We love new movies, music, and outdoor activities, such as fairs, farmers market, and exploring.
My passion is behavior therapy, family systems, and reality therapy, using treatment modalities such as mindfulness and stress reduction, and family systems.
I look forward to working with you!

Katie has been so helpful to me over the last 2 years. After my brief break from counseling katie took me right back in and made me feel as if. I never Left, she knew exactly the struggles I was going through before and helped relate them to current things. I have come leaps and bounds since starting work with Katie, and I cant wait to see where I'll end up with her guiding me along the way
I am very new to the app and was nervous to pay for something online. The second that Katie video chatted with me for the first time, I was completely at ease. She is genuine, understanding and suggests simple but, effective "homework" assignments. I didn't expect much but Katie is giving me hope in Better Help.
Very thoughtful and considerate. Goes above and beyond to help.
I started with Katie last year, I decided to use my health insurance and physically see a counselor but I didn’t click with the counselors and I feel like I made more progress with Katie so I returned.
Katie is kind and listens to me, and is so thoughtful when it comes to helping me solve a problem. It has been wonderful to chat with her.
I’ve really enjoyed working with Katie Maes. She has taught me how to stand up for myself and been a great source to talk my problems through with. Would definitely recommend her to others!
It's great to have someone who always listens. And even better if you can get some valuable insight from it. With Katie I know I don't have to sugar coat things. I can be as open as I want and she remains professional and extremely helpful. Since she is my counselor I have made enormous progress in various fields in my life. I grew a lot as a person and made it through tough times. Thanks Katie!
Katie from the start, has been an outstanding source of encouragement and safety. She does a great job of writing responses that allow you to feel comfortable and empowered to share. She listens, and articulates valuable feedback every time. I also have received her messages at very unconventional times, she puts a ton of time and effort in to get you where you want to go. I would really recommend her to anyone, she wants you to feel better as much as you do.
Katie immediately zeroed in on what I needed for the current dark difficult place I'm in in my life right now. She asked great questions about what I wanted and needed and is focused on solutions, and understanding me. She does not judge and is trustworthy and helpful.
Katie has helped me a lot.
I don't think it would have been possible to have met a better counselor than Katie Maes. Katie does a great job at listening and making suggestions or solutions to problems that make sense and are achievable. Talking always comes with such ease and I always feel great after talking.
I can't say enough about Katie...she has been patient and understanding beyond my expectations. Working with her over the past two months has given me important insights about myself and my life. I look forward to continuing our journey of exploration and revelation. Katie's comments and questions are always right on!
She has been very helpful, I honestly don’t think I could have found a better person for the job. Outstanding to talk to and very good at what she does.
Katie Maes has been a Godsend compared to previous therapies and counselors. Caring, compassionate and understanding. Quick in responses and doesn't take the easy road. Makes you think and challenge yourself to do better.
Katie helps me with my day-to-day troubles and helps me better cope with my depression. She finds time throughout the week to check in on me when she doesn't hear back for a while! I'm so thankful I came to BetterHelp and found Katie!
Ms. Maes has been wonderful. She is attentive, kind, and responsive. Her help has been tremendous.
I really like how she checks in if she hasn't heard back in a few days. Responds back quickly and keeps my focus on track.
This is the first time I've tried counseling and I feel so fortunate to be working with Katie Maes. She is an attentive listener, supportive, caring, and truly knowledgable. She does a great job responding to messages promptly and making time for communication. I am grateful for Katie and would recommend her to others in a heartbeat!
Katie Maes is a very kind and compassionate professional who, I feel, respects me and listens to what I need to talk about. She is insightful, helpful, responds quickly, and addresses my concerns. She is obviously a person who cares deeply about the people she is helping. Thanks, Katie!
I believe that Katie has the right approach to counseling. I am not one that wanted or felt like I need counseling however she does well drawing you out to get you to talk about any issues in your day to day life. I would highly recommend her.
Katie is kind and understanding. She has created a space for me to feel safe and comfortable expressing my thoughts and feelings. She’s encouraging but doesn’t hold my hand. Every message from her feels as though she took her time reading through what I had to say and took everything into account. Even when I’m rambling or ranting, she does her best to keep up with every line I write. She has guided me to develop healthier coping skills to deal with anxieties and stress. Katie answers all of my questions and I’ve never felt as though she was judging me. I truly appreciate her and the time she makes for me.
Katie is very responsive to my writings. We've only been working together for a month, but she appears compassionate and understanding.
