My interest in Psychology started in high school, it was then I began my journey. When I was a senior in high school, I started taking college level Psychology classes. I received my undergraduate Degree in Psychology from Montana State University in 2008. During my college career at MSU, I worked with abused, neglected, and traumatized children, as a case manager.
After graduating from MSU, I moved to Denver Colorado to start my Master's Program at the University of Phoenix. I graduated with a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2013. During my career at U of P. I worked with brain injured adults, as well as borderline personality adults at Fort Logan Mental Hospital. I shadowed two therapists, a female working with sex offenders, and a male working with intermittent explosive disorder children.
Since my graduation from University of Phoenix, I have moved back to Montana, received my license as a Counselor, ( LCPC) and have been practicing behavior therapy with adolescence at the middle school level for the last 4 years.
Personally, I have a 1.5 year old baby girl, and a 11 year old step daughter, and a new baby girl due in June, 2018! My family and I enjoy obvious Montana activities, including, hiking, fishing, camping etc. With strong regards to family interaction, inclusion and communication. We love new movies, music, and outdoor activities, such as fairs, farmers market, and exploring.
My passion is behavior therapy, family systems, and reality therapy, using treatment modalities such as mindfulness and stress reduction, and family systems.
I look forward to working with you!

Katie is amazing, honestly. It’s just been some weeks and she’s given me insights into my personality, I couldn’t find out in months before.
Katie has helped me a lot.
I don't think it would have been possible to have met a better counselor than Katie Maes. Katie does a great job at listening and making suggestions or solutions to problems that make sense and are achievable. Talking always comes with such ease and I always feel great after talking.
I can't say enough about Katie...she has been patient and understanding beyond my expectations. Working with her over the past two months has given me important insights about myself and my life. I look forward to continuing our journey of exploration and revelation. Katie's comments and questions are always right on!
She has been very helpful, I honestly don’t think I could have found a better person for the job. Outstanding to talk to and very good at what she does.
Katie Maes has been a Godsend compared to previous therapies and counselors. Caring, compassionate and understanding. Quick in responses and doesn't take the easy road. Makes you think and challenge yourself to do better.
Katie helps me with my day-to-day troubles and helps me better cope with my depression. She finds time throughout the week to check in on me when she doesn't hear back for a while! I'm so thankful I came to BetterHelp and found Katie!
Ms. Maes has been wonderful. She is attentive, kind, and responsive. Her help has been tremendous.
I really like how she checks in if she hasn't heard back in a few days. Responds back quickly and keeps my focus on track.
This is the first time I've tried counseling and I feel so fortunate to be working with Katie Maes. She is an attentive listener, supportive, caring, and truly knowledgable. She does a great job responding to messages promptly and making time for communication. I am grateful for Katie and would recommend her to others in a heartbeat!
Katie Maes is a very kind and compassionate professional who, I feel, respects me and listens to what I need to talk about. She is insightful, helpful, responds quickly, and addresses my concerns. She is obviously a person who cares deeply about the people she is helping. Thanks, Katie!
I believe that Katie has the right approach to counseling. I am not one that wanted or felt like I need counseling however she does well drawing you out to get you to talk about any issues in your day to day life. I would highly recommend her.
Katie is kind and understanding. She has created a space for me to feel safe and comfortable expressing my thoughts and feelings. She’s encouraging but doesn’t hold my hand. Every message from her feels as though she took her time reading through what I had to say and took everything into account. Even when I’m rambling or ranting, she does her best to keep up with every line I write. She has guided me to develop healthier coping skills to deal with anxieties and stress. Katie answers all of my questions and I’ve never felt as though she was judging me. I truly appreciate her and the time she makes for me.
Katie is very responsive to my writings. We've only been working together for a month, but she appears compassionate and understanding.
