About Me
Hello, my name is Kristen Watkins and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I earned my BA in Psychology from Chapman University and my MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from George Fox University. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I view issues clients bring to session through the lens of relationships. For example, if we are working together to address feelings of anxiety, we would explore how those feelings were impacting your relationships at work, at home, and in the community. My therapeutic style is warm and direct. I establish a therapeutic relationship with my clients and find the approach and interventions that work best for each individual. I understand my job as a therapist best through the lenses of strategic therapy, person-centered work, and attachment styles. I have additional training in working with individuals who have experienced trauma.
Each client I work with comes with different areas they would like to work on. Some of the common themes my clients seek help with are anxiety, depression, life transitions, self-esteem, personal development, self-care, stress management, parenting issues, trauma, relationships, and communication issues.
As a therapist, I will not be able to give you advice or make decisions for you. What I can offer is even better. As a therapist, I will be a place for you to feel valued for who you are, exactly as you are. I will ask questions and help you process the answers. I will reflect back to you your values and feelings so that you can make the best choices for your life. I will carry the hope that things can change even when you are not able to see a path through. I will honor your experiences. I will provide a safe and secure environment for you to grow.
I look forward to our work together.

Kristen is by far the best counselor I’ve worked with. She’s incredibly understanding and you always feel heard
She’s great and attentive.
She is great!
Kristen is a great counselor who listens and provides the support I need throughout various stages of my growth and development in therapy.
Amazing. Understanding. Encouraging.
I really appreciate my counselor Kristen. I’m not great at always checking in, especially since I’m not a fan of sharing so I appreciate that she checks in on me from time to time and it doesn’t feel too much so I like that. She hears my worries and concerns and provides me with practices that can help me. I would recommend her for anyone in need of great therapist. She’s respectful and listens without judgement.
Kristen is an excellent therapist. She guides you deep into your mind and through your emotions to help you uncover what's lurking below the surface. Holding space for the client is just one of her specialities. I am thankful and grateful to have Kristen guiding me through this challenging time.
Kristen is compassionate, understanding and smart. She is wonderful. I was be able to connect with her and express my stress and difficulty of my situation With her easily. Always have great sessions. She is very responsive. I strongly recommend her.
Very kind and thoughtful - re motors what I'm saying to make sure she's got out and even articulates how I'm feeling better than I do!
Kristen is super nice - especially great at helping me navigate through school stress and schedule management.
Kristen is a great counselor. She has the right balance between natural conversation and guided counseling. Would recommend her for anyone that has a tight schedule and can see a therapist's questions coming a million miles away.
Kristen helps me to see my life and myself from a different perspective. I tell her about my experiences and she is able to hone into another side of the story that I couldn't get working things out on my own. And I had tried, for a very long time. As someone particularly skeptical of counseling in general, it has been refreshing to speak and work with someone who genuinely recognizes that I am seeking help but reluctant to take it. Her patience and consistent inquiry have been the greatest asset for me and I appreciate my time with her.
Kristen is a great listener. She has been able to help me navigate and understand my emotions during a very difficult time of my life.
I am so glad Kristen has been my counselor. Her warm, non-judgmental demeanor made me feel comfortable from our very first session. She really helped me heal during a difficult chapter in my life. Overall I feel much more confident and equipped to handle my life after working with Kristen.
