Dr. Pitts’ approach underpins her coordination of services related to mental and behavioral health, medical and financial needs, education, employment, housing, professional development, and consultation.
With intimate connections to scholar-athletes her entire life, it was in high school that she became intrigued by the toll competitive play took on the mental health of scholar and professional athletes. Athletes’ mental health was further compromised by unhealthy environmental conditions that often led to engagement in unhealthy and risky behaviors. Additionally, it quickly became apparent that the challenges athletes faced, also impacted their families and communities.
Dr. Pitts is particularly passionate about being an integral part of a healing and hope trajectory for ethnic minorities. One size does not fit all and contributing to the holistic wellbeing of individuals and their families requires an understanding of different experiences. A native of Salem, New Jersey – Dr. Pitts is a firsthand witness of the multi-generational, systemic loss and devastation caused to families because of domestic violence, mental illness, substance abuse, gun violence, poverty, and the overall breakdown of the nuclear family. Dr. Pitts' tumultuous life serves as a compass guiding her to turn the adversities of her life into steppingstones for others.
Dr. Pitts serves the U.S. Department of State – Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the Institute of International Education as a Fulbright Alumni Ambassador and is on the Fulbright Specialist Roster for the U.S. Department of State and the World Learning Center. Serving as a Fulbright Specialist strategically positions Dr. Pitts to be a benefactor to host institutions around the world and a greater asset in every facet of her work via cultural exchange and mutual understanding using an interdisciplinary, multi-specialist, biopsychosocial approach concerning trauma-informed care. Additionally, becoming a Fulbright Specialist provides access to opportunities for Dr. Pitts to contribute to the preparation of systemically trained, culturally competent, socially just clinicians.
Dr. Pitts earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Management and a master’s degree in Couple, Marriage, and Family Therapy each from Drexel University. She earned a bachelor's in Organizational Management from HBCU Edward Waters College and an associate degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management from Johnson & Wales University. I have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Pitts. Everything that has been said about her in her reviews is true--professional, wise, diligent, approachable, and compassionate. She truly listens, provides relevant resources and practical advice, and challenges you to work through solutions through evidence-based cognitive and behavioral strategies. I would highly recommend Dr. Pitts.
Dr. Pitts’ methods were very effective and she has a large resource pool that benefits her clients as she meets us at our needs. I have grown tremendously under her care.
Third lesson just over and I feel more seen and understood than ever! Great advice on a personal trusting level. She actually listens and adjusts the sessions to more pressing matters if necessary. Amazing woman, extremely happy to have found here on this app and excited to work with her for the next months to come!
Dr. Pitts is knowledgeable, empathetic and goal directed. She really helped to clarify my thinking and bolstered my confidence during a difficult transition for me. Thank you Dr. Pitts for your help and support!
Prior to starting therapy, my confidence was a bit shaky, I struggled with having an inherent sense of self worth, and multiple of my close relationships were riddled with confusion, misaligned expectations and quite a bit of hurt. By working with Dr. Pitts, I've developed a different perspective, gained an inherent sense of self worth, and grown closer to more consistently solid and positive person I know I can be! In particular, my relationship with my spouse has begun to feel more lighthearted again and is regaining a sense of sweetness, which is priceless.
I find Dr. Pitts very helpful in getting me to see the value of my own self worth. She has given me articles to read and things to work on outside our sessions. Dr. Pitts shares common experiences with me in a professional way so i understand I am not alone in thinking or feeling specific ways. I look forward to our sessions weekly and enjoy the Journaling (not expected or required). Overall, I feel that Dr. Pitts is helping me find the. "Real Authentic" me.
Dr Pitts is so understanding and supportive. I feel like we problem solve together my worries and concerns and she is always there for me.
Insightful, thoughtful, understanding, respectful. Such a lovely woman. I would recommend her to anyone.
Dr. Pitts is amazing! I felt comfortable and at peace in every session I had with her. If you are looking for someone who cares, is honest, and provides different ways for you to engage or think in therapy she is the one.
Dr Pitts is an exceptional therapist. She is wise and diligent yet approachable, down to earth, relatable and caring. I have learned so much from Dr Pitts in a very short amount of time. She has given me the skills and confidence to open doors in life that I never understood how to approach. I am grateful to learn from her.
Dr. Pitts really knows how to listen, but not only that, she also makes you question yourself and dig down to the root problems. There is structure and deep understanding to her therapy sessions. The aim is clearly to get you back on the right track and be a more loving, tolerant person towards yourself and others. My time with Dr. Pitts was invaluable and I would recommend her without a shadow of a doubt. Thank you!
Dr. Pitts is exactly the type of therapist I was looking for. She’s very responsive, honest, and real. She holds you accountable and remembers details you forgot you even shared. She makes you feel heard and seen and that was huge for me. I’ve already recommended her to people but I would do it 10x over. I’ve worked with her for 9 solid months and I am NOT the person I used to be because of her guidance. She’s an expert and is a hoot.
Thank you Dr.Pitts, you’ve helped bring me back to me.
Thank you so much! I found someone who really listen and willing help. I would recommend to anyone who have had bad experiences with other therapist, and who are seeking help
This is my first time taking the courage to embark on therapy and I am honoured that I was matched with Dr Pitt’s. She has been amazing in presenting me with the knowledge and workable skills for the journey of being my best self. She is compassionate, relatable and professional and I feel safe opening up to her. I would recommend her a 100 times. Thank you Dr Lauren Pitt’s.
Dr. Pitts is a God-sent blessing! She is very professional and truly an expert in her field, but also a kind, compassionate and genuine human being. I feel her sincerity in wanting to help me, that she is truly rooting for me to grow into my best self and to lead my best life. Absolutely recommended!
Dr Pitts is amazing and so encouraging. I love her collaborative and holistic approach. She makes me feel valued and positive about the steps I take.
Dr. Pitts is a refreshing change from the therapists I have had in the past. She is professional while still being human, warm, and kind.
Dr. Pitts is so kind and compassionate. She makes me feel comfortable to express myself honestly, and helps me to see my circumstances through a new perspective. She has catered our sessions to fit my needs and goals, and over the course of our time together I have begun to feel like myself again. I am so thankful for her. I couldn't have asked for a better therapist.
I appreciate that Dr Pitts seems supportive and understanding, though I have yet to start sessions.
Dr Pitts was the first therapist I was matched with, and I was nervous we wouldn't get along as I've heard some people don't get along with their first therapist. However, I'm glad that I was matched to Dr Pitts because we got along great. I appreciate her honesty and her professionalism, and like the way she listens deeply whilst still giving you hard truths if you need to hear it. Even though I didn't feel like I had any significant issues going into therapy, I felt well supported and still came away with good insights. I would recommend Dr Pitts!
Dr. Pitts is my saving grace! She is kind, supportive, attentive, and considerate when listening and responding to my needs. She is also honest and direct which is exactly what I am looking for in a therapist. She doesn't let things "slip through the cracks" and really focuses on a growth mindset rather than allowing you to remain in a stagnant place. If you are ready to grow and put the work in that it takes to make progress, then, she is your new best friend!
She matched my energy and got right down to helping me figure out my problems. I wanted therapy to be proactive and help me move forward. Dr.Pitts had great ideas and constructive thought processes for moving forward. If recommend her to anyone.
