I am a marriage and family therapist licensed in Idaho with 9 years working as a psychotherapist. I have experience working with a variety of individuals and families of all ages, composition, and backgrounds, however, the bulk of my experience has been with sex offenders, sex abuse victims, domestic violence victims, and individuals/families dealing with substance abuse and addictions. I am experienced in working with multiple issues such as emotional dysregulation, trauma and PTSD, bipolar disorders, depression, anxiety, marital conflict, self-esteem and confidence issues, pre-marital and relationship issues, end-of-life issues, and co-dependency. For the past year, I have been working intensely with addictions and family conflict.
My approach to therapy is empathic and compassionate. Each individual has their own story and view and I encourage my clients to voice those. I provide a supportive, validating environment and emphasize that therapy is client-centered and their needs supercede any possible agenda. I'm here to offer guidance, motivation, structure, support, and acceptance. I see my role as that of facilitator in assisting my clients to create the life they want.
My preferred modalities are DBT, CBT, and the family-centered therapies to address negative thought processes and the development of positive communication skills.
I applaud you for seeking assistance. You've taken the first step to attaining better mental and emotional health by recognizing that you don't have to deal with trials alone. I look forward to building a strong working relationship with you.

I have had one session with Leisa and already she has helped me with my husband's brain injury. She is very knowledgeable and is excellent at explaining things clearly.
I world recommend her.
From the first session, Leisa made me feel heard. I've experienced victim shaming, but she listened and cared, allowing me to feel comfortable right from the start.
She is great! She’s super straightforward and also has a sense of humor which I respect and appreciate!
Leisa responds very quickly considering we’re in different countries and I feel I can email her anytime if I feel the need.
I love her she is always there for me when I need her and is always so supportive and helps ground me
Leisa has a trajectory and helps me refocus when my emotions scramble my sense of direction.
I’m very pleased with leis A’s work :)

I have enjoyed working with Leisa Watkins as my counselor over the past few months. She has been very professional in her demeanor, yet helps you to understand that she is there for your and helping you find your best self. She is kind, nonjudgmental, and assists the client in looking at a variety of aspects when making decisions. I would recommend her services to anyone.
Leisa has been very helpful. She responds in a timely manner and she gives me resources to look at.
Leisa took the time and effort to work through my issues and is addressing them so that I can return to 'normal' long term.
Leisa is experienced and uses her skills in a functional way that is implemented during her sessions.
Leisa Watkins has provided wonderful help and support during disturbing times over the past three months. She has always responded within 24 hours (mostly less) when I message and the video sessions have proved incredibly beneficial. I feel I have moved from an emotional wreck and returned to my previous confident self with her assistance.
Leisa Watkins is amazing. She has been instrumental in helping me to move forward from the most difficult time in my life. I have never felt judged or belittled. She has a way of helping me to see things from a new perspective. Leisa is the most kind and compassionate counselor I have ever had.
First off I love betterhelp app. It is amazing and perfect for my busy life style.
As for Leisa she is fantastic. I enjoy the fact she is in my state and was able to point me to resources that I had been struggling to find on my own. Leisa really knows her stuff and has been able to help me weed through a few problems. I look forward to working with her.
So far we have only used the chat and it is amazing. I am so glad she's understanding when it comes to my schedule and the fact it's hard for me to do face to face treatment.
I adore my counselor. I feel like her life experiences helps in relating to a lot of my struggles.
