In graduate school I completed an internship in a family counseling center. I provided individual and family counseling to students and their families. I have experience providing group counseling and counseling to family members who have loved ones suffering from Alzheimer's and dementia. I have more than 19 years of experience working with diverse populations. I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings with individuals and families experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, chronic illness, adjustment disorders, grief/loss and parenting issues. My goal is to create a non-judgemental, supportive atmosphere where my clients can grow and prosper and live up their full potential. I would describe myself as an empathetic therapist who uses a variety of interventions such as solution focused, cognitive behavioral therapy and a client centered approach. I believe in meeting the client where they are in their process. I enjoy assisting clients in becoming empowered to make their own life choices and decisions at their own pace. I believe it is essential for clients to feel heard and empowered and I assist them in using their voice. I am passionate about teaching clients coping skills in order to deal with stressful situations in their lives. Lori is great! She usually responded within a day, and was always sure to check and ask how I was doing. She often gave me worksheets which were very useful. Although I’m sure I was a difficult client, she handled it well while I was switching to a new therapist.
Lori has been a huge help so far and it has only been one session. I would recommend Lori and I like the way she makes you think and the things she has to say. She often checks up on me.
Lori is very supportive, and I confide in her very much. She listens carefully, and I find her insights very helpful. It's amazing to have someone you can rely on. Not only is she a great listener, but also very respectful and understanding. I appreciate the chance to be working with her.
Very relaxed and calm discussions, Lori makes my voice feel heard and allows me to see things from a different perspective by making me question the way I feel, she doesn’t provide the answers, but helps clear a path for me to find the answers for myself, it’s nice to talk openly and not feel judged, she is very supportive and always wants the best for me.
She has been great to chat to and always there to listen... open minded, which helps me a great deal as it allows me to decide for myself rather than wait for answers. Thank you.
