Hello and welcome! My name is Maria Grieco and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. If you are in a phase of your life where you have started thinking about change or are looking for ways for your life to be more functional and positive, you are already on the right track! Life is full of twists and turns which can result in benefiting from support and an outside perspective. Whether you have just started to think about engaging in therapy or being open to learning some new tools, be proud of making this first step!
I have been working in the mental health field for over 10 years. I received my Masters in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore where I was privileged enough to serve and work with individuals with chronic illness, survivors of domestic violence, veterans, active duty military members (and their families) and adults with varied cognitive abilities. I have experience working with both adults and children from varied cultures and backgrounds, as well as, have worked and continue to work with individuals and families experiencing grief, anxiety, and depression.
Most often in my practice, I find myself drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and a Trauma Informed Approach. Although these are approaches that I commonly draw from, my treatment modalities vary based on what techniques may be the best fit for that individual. I don't believe there is a one size fits all therapeutic approach for everyone, and work to consistently check in and assess treatment styles for each client as I get to know them and the challenges they face. I work to empower my clients by teaching them the tools and skills necessary to manage their symptoms and challenges, and to aid individuals in identifying and building on their strengths.
Whether you are new to therapy or have engaged in therapy over the years, I hope to work together with you to process events or daily challenges that interfere with living your life in a meaningful way, and teach you skills and interventions that empower you to live a more fulfilling life. I look forward to hearing from you!

I was skeptical to start counseling especially online counseling, mostly because I have never been in therapy before. I can now say that it has given me just what I was looking for. Maria has supported me since day one. I have a hard time trusting others, especially strangers but I feel like I can open up to her about anything. She has helped me find my voice and my strength again. I couldn't ask for a better counselor to help me through the struggles I face daily.
I have been in counseling with Maria a little over a week, she has been nothing short of wonderful. She listens, keeps in touch regularly, understands my concerns and problems. I look forward to continuing my therapy work with Maria.
Maria is easy to talk to. I dont really like talking but I feel safe when talking to her.
Maria provides good insight and help understanding of the things I neglect to see in myself. She is very kind and considerate she takes the time out of her own day to check in on me. High praise for her and how she helps me and others.
