I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of South Carolina. Life is full of obstacles and challenges. I feel that building healthy foundations can help with coping with these challenges effectively. My 27 years of experience in the Mental Health field has allowed me to gain a wealth of knowledge that has enabled me to assist clients in identifying life challenges. I feel my job is to help individuals generate creative solutions to challenges and problems while providing support and empowerment. I have only had one session with Marilyn but from what I have gained in the 45 minutes with her is something I think I will be able to carry with me and continue to have healing.
Marilyn is a jewel. She listens. I feel safe and comfortable talking with her. She prays with me and for me. Blessings come to those who believe and help others. She is a blessing to me.
Dr. Kennedy really takes the time to listen to my concerns, validate my feelings, and nudges me when appropriate. She checks in on our goals and holds me accountable to them. Our sessions are always time well spent.
One tends to put themselves in a very vulnerable position when reaching out to a counselor for the first time. Or even the third or fourth time. Especially when it takes some time to find a counselor who meets your needs and works with your availability. Marilyn held me accountable. We had sessions early in the morning and I never exited a session without feeling renewed and refreshed. We shared a lot of laughs, and we talked a lot about things that were uncomfortable for me to bring up in the first place. She was patient and kind, and listened above all else. She told me what I needed to hear, and not just what I wanted to hear. She gave me a safe space to vent and always made me feel respected and heard. I cried after I hung up the phone following our last session because, even though I felt like I had made progress in my own healing, I felt like I was losing a support system that truly cared for understanding and helping their clients. When I feel able to afford my betterhelp subscription, I will definitely be reaching out to Marilyn again.
Ms. Marilyn is a blessing! She has really helped me work through my struggles.
