Martha Wisbey, Ph.D., LCSW, is a native Floridian from Miami. She received her degrees from Florida Southern College, Miami University and University of Georgia and has served as a counselor and educator at several agencies and institutions working in the area of disability, diversity and crisis management.
As a clinician she utilizes a systems and strengths based approach that is therapeutic, empowering and developmental. She works with individuals, couples and groups to create positive, resilient and manageable change in their lives. Assisting clients with disabilities, either acquired or congenital in full participation and engagement in their communities is a strong area of interest as well as experience for Dr. Wisbey. In addition, cultural and psychosocial identity work are areas that she has received intentional training. Her research and clinical interests are in disability studies, college student development theory, women’s identity development and cultural diversity.
She is an avid reader and writer, loves all animals, especially dogs, enjoys college sports (as a spectator) and community arts. She enjoys the Tallahassee community for its diversity and resources.
