About Me

Hello! My name is Mary Beth and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over six years of experience providing therapy services. I have worked in a wide range of therapeutic settings including: outpatient, adult partial care, residential for adolescents, therapeutic foster care, and intensive in home counseling for children and families. I specialize in clients affected by depression, anxiety, bipolar, Autism, grief and loss, trauma and relationship challenges from individual, group and family work.

I am originally from New Jersey. I received my undergraduate degree in Sociology at the University of Arizona and my Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling at Capella University.

My approach to therapy is client centered: you are the expert on your life you and determine the direction and depth of therapy. Through a strengths-based and solutions-focused lens, I draw on multiple treatment modalities to guide you in identifying strengths and developing treatment plans that accomplish your goals at your pace. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we can explore the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to discover thought patterns leading to behaviors and beliefs that cause difficulties. Using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), I will support you in developing skills such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal skills, and emotion regulation with the goal of moving clients towards a life involving the capacity for experiencing joy and freedom.

My adult son has Autism and bipolar, so I can personally relate to parents struggling alone. I understand the challenges of raising a special needs child and not knowing what to do. We can walk this difficult journey together to figure out solutions and techniques that will work specifically for your family's unique needs.

Outside of my work as a therapist, I enjoy reading, painting, martial arts, traveling to new places and spending time with my family.

Thank you for listening. Thank you for caring and asking the right questions. I find myself using your technique a lot with family. It gets them annoyed because I keep asking questions. I know this approach helps people realize things for them selves and I agree with that way of helping others. I would just say I definitely have seen the value in my personal life. I haven’t followed all the exact exercises but still has helped to have a listening ears and an open heart.
Thank you
God bless
